A game that encapsulates what the playoffs are all about.
Tension, drama, entertainment and controversy.
Generally, I thought Ben Speedie had quite a good game. He let a
bit go, turned to the cautions when necessary and used
advantages really well to keep the game going.
However, you couldn’t keep the KMI’s away from this match and
I’ll give an opinion on the main 4
Kelman 1st Goal - it is very clearly offside because Beckles
does flick it on and Kelman is about 3 yards offside. One that
the ref and AR will be very disappointed with.
Stockport Penalty incident - Great spot to see the raised arm
from the defender in an unnatural decision to prevent the
attacker from having a header towards goal
Leyton Orient Penalty Appeal - I think this is a penalty because
Kelman cuts inside of Norwood who swings a leg out and catches
his ankle. I called penalty in real time. Again I think Speedie
will be disappointed cause he had a great view.
Orient Penalty incident - Once again, called handball in real
time and having thought about it Speedie eventually pointed to
the spot. The arm from defender, Horsfall is certainly raised
and stops the ball from going towards the goal however people
may argue proximity and may be natural for the actions he was
making. Personally it was a great spot and a penalty for me.
Two out of four KMIs correct for team ref in a highly
entertaining encounter

Agree with your assessments of the incidents, but 2 KMIs wrong
(one of them beyond awful) can never be described as anything
other than a poor performance no matter how the rest of the game
went. Speedie has never been capable of a play off game and
shouldn’t have been appointed

Last line here very unfair. No one on here questioned his
appointment at all pre-game, and I've seen him praised on here a
few times throughout the season so I think you've made a very
sweeping statement there.
With the offside, I don't know how neither of them has seen it.
It's a poor decision that could have huge consequences but
sadly, it's not the worst offside decision we've ever seen let's
be honest.

I questioned it, but saw it coming due to the games he’s had
(Wycombe-Wrexham, championship debut). I’ve seen him probably
upwards of 10 times now and never been convinced.

I've seen him three maybe four times. Nothing outstanding either
positively or negatively. I would place him solidly in the
middle of the EFL toilers. However those whose opinion counts,
clearly rate him higher than I do.

Absolutely inexplicable decision to allow that offside goal.
These decisions (or lack of) cost livelihoods. I saw a similar
goal in 2011 at Wembley which earned York promotion back to the
EFL.
Of course mistakes happen, but the timing of that couldn’t
really have been worse.
I know they want the best officials in the division to officiate
these games, but the best officials really should be doing them.
I’m talking SG2 minimum.
The manager has absolutely slammed the decision in the media,
who can blame him? He’ll probably get a fine now.

I'd have more sympathy for the manager if they'd acknowledged
the bad decisions in their favour as well, if you want to
criticise a bad performance (which it was) can't just mention
the bad decisions against you.
Apparently the officials have said that they did see the flick
on which makes the decision even more confusing, clearly should
have had Sam Allison after the decision back in the derby v
sunderland game.

The error (on the offside) was made by the AR not spotting the
flick on.
But could the referee have bailed him out had he taken the
(old-fashioned) wider position? The referee was centrally
placed and not wide (apparently not required anymore as the need
to actually look at one's AR has gone up in smoke with buzzer
flags and comms).
If he had been wide, he would have been better placed to see the
change in the flight of the ball and - most importantly - what
caused it.
Sometimes the old ways can be better .........

The assistant couldn't possibly have been any wider and he
didn't see it, so I'm not sure how the referee being wider would
help.
