Back in the day I’m sure select group refs did all PL finals.
Since when has this changed?
[/quote]
From memory sg1 official gets championship final, sg2
official(kitchen) gets league 1 final and a national list
referees get league 2 and conference play off finals

It's strange that they are releasing these appointments in dribs
and drabs. It is reckoned that, in each category of appointment,
the referee at the top of the Merit List gets to be referee and
the second in the List gets to be 4th Official. We wait to see
who the top two are in the National List getting the League Two
Play Off Final

I believe this appointment goes to highest rated ref from
assesor marks. That may have changed. Mike dean had it numerous
times. Kav has had a decent season. Was doing very well in
europe. Gillet and brooks not far behind. As much as english
refs get knocked (mainly incorrect var intervention) i think the
there some very compatant officials doing a very good job under
the most scrutanty

Not happy with the League 1 appointment.
Whitestone should have had the final and Kitchen the semi final.
He isn't card happy enough and that is coming from a Charlton
Athletic supporter.
Happy with Cav for the Championship final. Bankes would have
been my first choice thb.

Congrats to all, I was surprised Finnie didn’t get a PL trial,
next year will probably be his turn.

Have to admit I’m quite surprised to see James Bell as VAR,
especially being relatively new to the role. Wouldn’t say he’s
made many/if any errors but that’s definitely his biggest game
as VAR.
Congrats to all officials appointed. Well deserved.
