Thank you. Is this confirmed? I keep a database of 'final
games', and I will add Sam's name if it is. I have seen Sam a
couple of times at Gresty Road and always thought he was a safe
pair of hands.

Definitely confirmed.

I’m also surprised by this, I’ve seen Sam many times in the last
few years and he’s developed nicely from (in my opinion) a
referee who used to hide behind his cards too often. He’s looked
much more confident in the last couple of years.
I think he’s only mid 30’s but as mentioned, seems to have a
successful career in the legal world. He would have been worthy
of a playoff semi/final.
Best wishes to him.

National List AR Stephen Brown had his last game before
retirement at Reading on the final weekend of the regular
season.

Wonder if Graham Scott will do another year, he must be pushing
60 and has spent most the year on VAR presumably due to an
injury.

Thanks BMB, he is comfortably the oldest ever SG1 isn't he?
Even grandad was about 52/53 when he retired and the PL has only
got quicker since, he must be incredibly fit to be passing the
select group fitness tests at 55/56
I can see him maybe becoming a full time VAR next season

They also he he was 61 years old, that's pretty astonishing if
correct. Chris Sutton even double checked it, asking the
commentator if he really said 61.
