[/quote]Nor me but given the way they are assessed,it must be on
merit.
It sticks a finger up to all those who slated him after the
Munster 14 man debacle, and the flak he got on Facebook was poor
and ill informed at best. It was the off field officials and an
app which got it wrong!!

If world Rugby’s aim was to have 3 neutral refs from 3 different
countries then it was always going to be a choice between
Brousset and Piradi, both of whom are relatively inexperienced.
A bit of a concern methinks p.
The alternative would have been to choose the best 3 neutral
refs, regardless of nationality. In my opinion the excellent
Paul Williams can count himself very unlucky indeed

Well for 78 mins Piardi looked like he belonged on the game and
was having a great game… then it went pear shaped badly. Last
call of the game and he, imho, got it terribly wrong. Clear
penalty to Australia and a YC.
I now look at Rugby and appreciate their openness and honesty,
the communication as Piardi spoke to the TMO was bizarre but
genuine.

Wayne Barnes who has connections with World Rugby has repeated
what others have said, not all head contact is illegal.
I think if you watch it in slow motion, when Jac Morgan is
committing to the clearout, he’s lower / underneath the Aussie
player. Then he moves forward and in that split second, the
Aussie player's head drops lower (to pick the ball up). So the
referee's interpretation of a sudden change in height and
therefore not an act of foul play was spot on. He doesn’t make
contact direct to the head either - more lower neck top of back.
The Australian's were very good and deserve great credit, their
post match comments disappointing.
Meanwhile, I am recovering from watching St. Kilda's comeback in
AFC this am!

I thought the Morgan clear out was legal, tight call whichever
way he went the other side were going to be outraged
Thought he did ok throughout, didn’t try to be the centre of
attention, let both teams compete at the breakdown and allowed
the game to flow.
Was generous to the Wallabies at the Scrum - couple of resets
where the Lions dominated and should have been awarded penalties
Great game though, the two returning Wallaby forwards made a
massive difference until they both went off - think if they had
stayed on longer Australia may well have won
