A really inconsistent performance today from Matt Corlett at
Crewe v Walsall. He let alot go but then was pulling up for some
minor things. It just didn’t make any sense. A huge penalty
shout for Crewe in the second half and I can’t believe that he
didn’t give it. Our midfielder got wiped out?! He then got
booked in his frustration. Paul Marsden can even mess up as
fourth official!!! He didn’t indicate how long was left in the
second half. Walsall made subs right on the 90th min, he then
put the board down and never indicated how many was left. I
guessed 6 and it appeared I was correct.
However, there was a really nice touch from Matt. Earlier this
week, an 11 year old Crewe fan got hit and killed whilst on his
bike. I’ve refereed him, only a few months ago as well. On the
11th min both sets of fans applauded. The ball went out of play,
and Matt stopped the game so the players/officials could join in
the applause. That was a class act and fair play to him. I
recall Josh Smith doing something similar a couple of years ago.

Well done to those teams that achieved the results they needed
today - Bradford deserved a top 3 spot and happy to see
Chesterfield and Orient in there too. My U’s ended up just short
of the top 7, but a much better season and one we’ll all reflect
       upon with good memories.
Colchester United FC (First Team) v Barrow AFC (First Team)
       Football League 2
       Referee: Ricardo, Ruebyn
       Assistant Referee: Howick, Kevin
       Assistant Referee: D'Urso, Daniel
       Fourth Official: Walchester, Callum
For the large majority, a good day’s work for Ruebyn Ricardo and
team, albeit a glaring error in the second half with the red
       card.
It’s the first time i’ve seen the seemingly well regarded
Ruebyn, he definitely tried to let the game go and played a few
excellent advantages, there’s the making of a top referee there.
All cautions were correct, I thought his game management was
slightly below the level of his foul awarding, which was
excellent. He had several lengthy conversations at corners which
didn’t seem to do much and he was very generous in giving Barrow
chance to run down the clock. Other than those corner
conversations, he seemed a bit standoffish and distanced himself
       from the players.
The major error though was the red card, which was pretty
clearly a clean tackle by Barrow’s Cameron. Once he gave a foul,
he had no option but to give a red card for DOGSO but Cameron
clearly played the ball. The Barrow players seemed to mostly
direct their anger at AR1 for the decision (and he would have
had a good angle), so it may well be Ruebyn regrettably took
       Kevin Howick’s advice.

Martin Coy had a good game today (bar missing the second yellow
for Sarcevic, think that may cost him a playoff involvement) My
first promotion in 11 years following Bradford. Absolutely over
the moon. Didn’t sink in for a few hours. City’s going up ole
       ole!!!

Walsall fans were singing “we are going up” until you scored. We
started cheering and celebrating like we scored 😂
Walsall were determined that they were getting autos.
I much rather prefer Bradford go up via the autos than Walsall.
       Well done.

Thanks mate. I’ve never seen scenes like it. Hope you can take
advantage of that awful league next year but you might need a
new gaffer after how this season ended? Feel a little bad for
Walsall tbf, can’t see how they get themselves up for playoffs
       now

Not only a new manager, but new players as well. There’s been a
lot of heated arguments in the dressing room, leaving alot of
academy players on the bench the last few games. Doesn’t help
with our injury record - someone is always injured. We create
chances (like yesterday) but just can’t score them at all!

That seems to be a thing at Crewe always a few decent players
hanging around in your academy. Chris Long should have been
straight out the door after his dive at wembley last year. From
what I’ve seen Lankester is one of the best players in the
league. If he stayed fit you’d have had a better chance.

I was watching the results from afar on holiday, and I have to
say the Crewe result did not surprise me. If we continue this
way next season, we shall be down among the 'dead men' the
       following season.
