European Rugby Semi Finals
By: RCG Date: April 28, 2025, 8:34 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Well I am glad I didn't put any money on these!!
Leinster vs Northampton - Brousset (France) supported by Ramos,
Gnecchi and Trainini
Bordeaux vs Toulouse - Brace (Ireland) with Ridley, Cross and
Adamson
Edinburgh vs Bath - Amushekelli (Georgia) assisted by Cayre,
Evans and Gauzins
Lyon vs Racing 92 - Dickson (England) with Pearce, Grove-White
and Tempest
Piardi dropped, Italian representative Gnecchi
Good to see Evans and Grove White as ARs (although Adamson again
has the TV plunger)

Suprised to see Brousset as I didn't think he did all that well
in the previous round. No suprise that Andrea Piardi hasn't been
used as he's had a few bad games recently but hopefully he can
return to form as he's generally pretty good. Good to see Nika
on a semi-final as he's been really good the last few years and
this is a reward for that even if others have said that he
hasn't had the best season in Europe

Whilst I like AB I think both Champions Cup referees will have
their work cut out, esp.in France
Luke P ran the line for Karl D this weekend in the Prem now we
know why
If Northampton don't get to the final I think you may see Matt
Carley get it again

Credit where credit is due I thought Brousset had an excellent
game yesterday. V consistent, got all the big decisions right,
was calm, explained where he could. Was competitive without
being the most difficult game but he never crumbled. Overruled
TMO on a couple of occasions which was good
Fair play to Northampton- gives me an English team to cheer for
in Cardiff in 3 weeks time
Andrew Brace is basically auditioning for the final this
afternoon - hope it goes well

[/quote]Piardi wasn't dropped, his problem at Munster when they
wrongly played with 14 men, was due to his off field officials
and an app that didn't work! I read that he was always due to
take this weekend off. I feel he may get the final.

Brace did well today in the Bordeaux bear pit
I thought there was a late shoulder charge missed by Referee and
TMO, on field argument was timing was OK, arms involved - I'm
not convinced
I think AB will get the final, with NA on the challenge cup
