Peter Bankes - Bournemouth vs Man Utd

A few things to comment on from that 1st half. The Bournemouth
yellow for me is quite harsh as he wins the ball and doesn't
really make any forceful contact but the way the laws are today
it probably is a yellow. Casemiro is lucky to avoid a yellow as
he does catch him but not enough force in it for me to warrant a
red card. The Maguire penalty shouts are interesting as I
definitely think the 1st one is a pen and have seen them given
before where as the 2nd one i feel would have been to soft to
       give as a penalty

I’d add in the Adams tackle being very orange.
Neither were pens for me. Both holding each other

That's a terrible call from the assistant to call a foul and a
yellow card when the Bournemouth player kicked Dorgu not the
       other way round

Terrible decision to card Dorgu for a challenge on Smith. Not
even a foul. I don’t think Bankes saw it as his view was
obstructed but Greenhalgh should have spotted the ball was won
       cleanly.

If Evanilson is binned via VAR for SFP that is a joke of a
       decision…

Absolutely terrible OFR for the Evanilson slip. Complete lack of
       understanding from Brooks on VAR.
I say this too often but that's the worst VAR overturn in a long
       time.

I think the Tarkowski non red has come in to play here as they
looked at point of contact rather than the fact he slipped as we
all said in that scenario that they looked at the fact he got
the ball rather than the point of contact so it's like they've
gone from one extreme to the other

John Brooks is an experienced Category 1 UEFA official. How he
has identified that as SFP is so so worrying for the state of
officiating in England and in Europe.
And how Bankes either agreed with him or didn't have the bottle
to go against him is crazy!

Well the PGMOL did come out and say that those sort of
challenges where the point of contact is high would be punished
and that's what happened here even if the general consensus is
that he slipped. What I will say is if he hadn't have slipped
then it definitely should have been a red card.

That has to be one of the worst VAR interventions I’ve seen all
season. Brooks is saying that Evanilson slipping has had no
effect on his motion into the Mazraoui.
Brooks used to play football before he was a referee so surely
he has an understanding that any slipping motion means that any
contact cannot be deemed as deliberate!
       Shocking decision.
Bankes has been poor today, some really poor decisions and has
had to go to the cards to try and calm things down, simply
because of the dreadful officiating and VAR.
