Ross Joyce is a sensible appointment for Doncaster-Bradford but
what’s the plan if he gets injured? A game that big needs a good
name as 4th
A very good point. Crawley v Northampton get Charles Breakspear
as fourth official. Any point? Northampton are safe (I think).

Doesn’t even require a Breakspear type. James Oldham (for
example) would do as long as it’s a referee who’s not a first
year

I wonder if the assistants are due to proximity of where they
live as Stockport seem to have had Lewis Raper about four or
five times this season as well. For the likes of Mather you can
probably count yourself lucky to avoid them!
Yes, Assistants tend to get appointed locally (loosely) whereby
Referees are expected to go across the country but it doesn't
happen often.

Love the Tranmere “youth” celebrating infront of the Crewe
players and fans because they stayed up. One kid started to
attack Hemmings, our striker, which isn’t on.
Onto the game - I’ll let Boz do the report because I can’t be
bothered 😂

Somehow we’re still in the top 3 with one game to go! I’d have
taken that all day long at 12.30 but it didn’t quite go the way
I expected😅 Ross Joyce as always had a good game at
Doncaster, albeit a couple of soft fouls to the hosts. He
correctly awarded us a penalty after a long consultation with
AR2, possibly about the position of the foul but Joyce looked as
though he was considering awarding it to Donny, but good
teamwork saw them get it right.
The main talking point is Baldwin’s sending off at half time. I
called out Smallwood for his red card the other week but that
was nothing in comparison. Despite a fairly decent season his
Bradford career is undoubtedly over - whether he plays again or
not he’ll never regain the trust of the fans, and no blame can
be attached to the referee who gave him multiple chances to head
to the dressing room before a caution, then a straight red for
OFFINABUS. Our gaffer says the ref had no choice so it can’t
have been nice whatever he said

No excuse for that or the number of smoke bombs/flares that were
set off in the Kop during the second half. If I had anything to
do with it a good number of them would be on Football Banning
Orders!
The match report will have to wait until tomorrow, too
emotionally drained right now.

I watched AFC Wimbledon v Port Vale. While my mate was very
happy as he supports Port Vale.
I thought Declan Bourne had a poor game. He does not seem to be
a referee who likes to activity engage with the players. Some
very soft free kicks given both ways.
The main talking point was Port Vales second goal. AFC Wimbledon
had a player down with a clear head injury and Declan played on
and the result was Port Vale scored. The player had treatment to
his head on the FOP for about five minutes and was then subbed.
The AFC Wimbledon manager was sent off by Declan for his
protests about the decision. About ten minutes later a Port Vale
player went down with a head injury and Declan could not stop
the game quick enough.
Congratulations to Port Vale, Doncaster Rovers and Wrexham on
their promotions this season.

I thought I’d never write this but, hear me out. I thought Paul
Marsden had a fairly good game today at Boston United vs
Gateshead let the game flow as best he could, first yellow card
on 73 minute to away side. Away side had a fairly good shout for
a penalty I’ve watched it back 5/6 times both as natural and as
away fan I think maybe he may have got that one wrong player may
have got a little touch buyt

Tranmere Rovers FC v Crewe Alexandra FC
Football League 2
Referee: Parsons, Thomas
Assistant Referee: Ellis, Andrew
Assistant Referee: Bickle, Oliver
Fourth Official: Burgess, Adam
Mr Parsons set the bar low for awarding fouls, with a string of
free-kicks in the opening stages of the game, given for
relatively minor contact. After Rovers had taken the lead midway
through the half and against the balance of play, there were two
other points of note. Dennis booked for blocking off the Crewe
defender, who ended up in the hoardings, it looked a tad harsh
to me. A Crewe equaliser was chalked off for offside, my
impression was that the player making the late run and initial
free-kick might have managed to stay onside as he headed in, but
the player making sure was offside, but looked very tight.
The second half was predominantly going with the home side, but
a weak back-pass left Rovers defender O'Connor heading for goal
and he was taken down from behind by the Crewe no 30 with Mr
Parsons having one of the easiest DOGSO red cards he's likely to
have to produce. Shame, as O'Connor's never scored for Tranmere,
but without the challenge, he'd be in with a fighting chance. In
added time, Mr Parsons produced a second YC to Rovers Hendry.
The first was for dissent after an award of a Crewe goal-kick
where it looked to both me and the player that it had come off a
Crewe player last. The second was for another Crewe free-kick,
where Hendry returned the ball by kicking it high but with
little distance to Crewe. If Mr Parsons adjudged it
time-wasting, it would have been a harsh decision against any
player in my view. The fact that he didn't produce the card
until about ten seconds after he'd blown for the foul and then
twigged that the player was Hendry felt like poor refereeing and
an evening up exercise.
More cards late in the game, as Crewe got a corner and forward
Thiabut pushed keeper McGee into the hoardings to get the ball,
with more force than had been involved in the Dennis incident
during the first half. There was then a scuffle, in which Hall
pulled Davison's top-knot and was sent off, while three others
including Thiabut were shown YCs. I felt there was far more risk
to the opponent by Thiabut's action than Hall's.
Overall, while there was no argument about Mr Parsons' fitness
and I like the way he allowed the ARs to flag infringements,
yesterday he didn't wholly convince in the role.

How Thibaut wasn’t sent off for pushing McGee into the hoardings
is beyond me. That could have ended horribly. Not protecting
player safety at all seems to be a common theme with this
referee..
