Sam Barrott - Crystal Palace v AFCB

I'm rarely negative but a very inconsistent game from Sam, who I
do rate quite highly ordinarily. A spell at the end of the first
half when Scott already on a yellow pushed someone over, the
manner enough for a yellow card. It wasn't given and should have
been in all honesty. Literally seconds later, at most 2 mins,
Richards committed a 2nd YC worthy foul and was sent off for
YYC. Greatly compounded the error in not sending Scott off. Can
completely understand any unhappiness on the part of Crystal
Palace. Not quite sure what did or didn't constitute a foul at
times and it felt at one point there was a YC for every bit of
contact. 9 YC's in a game where it's hard to see how there were
       so many.
To add in a positive for balance - played a couple of lovely
advantages. Also one point he noticeably adjusted his position
near the edge of the box to get a better view. Showed some good
       awareness.
Not the best day at the office for him but I have no doubt he
will learn from it and bounce back in his next game.

Yes, I heard that the failure to 2nd yellow card the Bournemouth
player before Richards received his 2nd yellow card did not go
down well in the Palace camp. Inconsistent was how I heard it
       described.

Having seen highlights Scott’s challenge is worse than
Richards’s. I agree with glasner either it’s a yellow for both
       or nothing for both

The sending off was for two very similar offences - the Palace
player grabbed the arm of an opponent as he passed. Regulars on
here will be aware of my long held opinion that foul challenges
using the hands (holding, pushing, grabbing) cannot be anything
other than intentional and should be punished with a yellow
card; whereas a foul tackle (i.e. with the feet) can be poorly
judged, accidental or intentional - thus requiring some
discretion. So, for me, these two yellow cards were justified.
The Bournemouth player - already on a yellow card - terminates a
promising attack and there was a general expectation that a
second yellow card would follow. Barrott (in my view) tries to
"manage" this situation which worked for all of two minutes
       until the Palace dismissal.
The only two supportable outcomes were two red cards or zero red
cards. Although, had the Bournemouth player received a second
yellow card, the Palace player might have thought twice before
committing his second holding / grabbing offence. Maybe!

Is there a difference between the holding by the Palace player
which resulted in the second yellow, and the potential foul on
Summerville early in the season which Sam didn’t give as a
       penalty?

Ref Watch makes unhappy viewing for Sam Barrott. Ultimately it
boils down to man management. If the first YC had been managed
rather than sanctioned with a YC. Warnock confirmed that there
was no element of totting up for persistent fouling and so the
card was all the more confusing.
A useful game for Barrott, lots to learn and reflect upon. Man
management is probably the hardest art to master and for all his
good points, I feel that Barrott's inexperience caught him out.

Very poor again from Barrott, I watched this game live. He
didn’t command any sort of respect from the players, allowed
himself to be surrounded….. Scott of AFCB should have gone, was
such a clear 2nd yellow you could feel the players expected it,
Barrott needs to learn just put your hand in your pocket and
       administer justice.
The palace red was mandatory, pull back on arm clear 2nd yellow,
but looked awful because 2 minutes before he should have put
       AFCB down to 10 !!
All 9 yellows were spot on, cannot fault those. But he does just
look so far out of his dept in most games I watched him.
