Arsenal v Brentford Simon Hooper

I think Norgaard is extremely fortunate not to receive a RC. A
lunging tackle from behind, with a scissor motion, at speed. To
me, clearly endangering his opponent's safety.
I concede it is never going to be RC in the EPL (what is these
days?), but I don't think studs need to be planted into the leg
for the ultimate sanction to be issued.

I don’t even think VAR knows what a dangerous challenge is these
days.
Just goes to show there is a lot of work to be done post season.

Simon Hooper, sorry I forgot to add that to the title of the
thread, if I figure out how to amend that, I will!

Your last point literally sums up how the PGMOL view SFP this
season. Players can make dangerous tackles without even making
contact - when I completed my referee course I was told that it
didn’t matter if lots of contact was made, if it endangers an
opponent’s safety then a RC could be issued.
I’ll admit when I first watched it and saw a first replay I did
think reckless and YC but I think watching it again, it probably
meets that RC threshold. We don’t typically see challenges with
a scissor motion anymore but that feels like an incident of SFP
that could potentially endanger the safety of an oppponent.

I think var and referees know what is SFP but what they dont
know is what their employers think is SFP and whether they will
be backed or not if they issue a red card thus therein lies the
problem.

When you see how far he was from playing the Ball it most
definitely should have been red. For once, I agree with Arteta
