Are there 2 Gavin Wards? Because the one at home park today was
excellent!
In what was a non typical gavin ward performance , we saw a
relaxed extremely competent performance from a referee who
before today I hadn’t seen have a good game. He had a calm
authority throughout was always on the spot , made few if any
errors , showed excellent player and game management and was
also card free.
Never been a fan since our promotion but must give credit where
it’s due today he gave a top 3 performance and deserves praise.
9/10 for me .

Did you make sure it was actually Gavin Ward and not a late

If this new look competency from Ward could stick around until
at least Wednesday then that would be fantastic!

He refereed the Coventry Portsmouth game last night which for
part of it I slept through. Gavin Ward likes to let the game
flow but this is a difficult balancing act and can look like a
referee not having the confidence to give decisions. However, in
the first half he refused to award a penalty for handball to
Coventry which surprised many. The defender turned his back to a
shot and lifted his arms up away from his body. The ball, hit
hard, struck his arm and deflected the shot to safety. Imho,
wrong. Is it this inconsistency which frustrates some observers
here? Nevertheless, he does like to let the game flow and you
have to earn your free kicks!
