In relation to Michael Gough, his drunk driving ban (and failure
to stop) in August of last year would not have endeared him to
his employers.

Refusing to provide a sample of breath when asked to wouldnt go
down well.
Not his first conviction either, previous one in 2009.
Hope he is ok and has received any help that he may have
required.

Yes, re: the future Emerging Panel members it's difficult to get
a read to be honest, as others have noted Nogajski is at least
anecdotally a bit patchy but Cricket Australia seems to rate him
highly, have seen him a fair bit in domestic cricket and have
always thought him a fairly solid official. Haven't seen enough
of Riaz to rate him.
Re: International Panel replacements, don't really have a read
on English ones, other than Middlebrook, Rob White is relatively
young and seems to be well rated? In South Africa my sense is
Jele was never really highly rated during his time on the Panel;
Siphelele Gasa looks to be well regarded given his appointment
to a number of women's internationals last summer and appointing
him would align well with CSA's transformation efforts
PS. RD10- apologies, inadvertently clicked the 'dumb' reaction
button earlier, by no means intentional!

Confirmation via Cricket Australia that Nogajski has been
appointed to the Emerging Panel, nothing from the ICC as yet as
to who if anybody else will be joining him. A separate release
from Cricket Tasmania refers to it as a panel of 4, although it
was 5 this past year, so perhaps that does indicate it will just
be him.

I think it’s fairly common knowledge that Michael was a very
talented cricketer but suddenly gave up playing
at 23 when he lost his appetite for the game. He gradually
resumed his love of cricket by going into umpiring and has been
an outstanding umpire for many years. Maybe he has become
disillusioned with umpiring and wants to explore other avenues.
If the decision to stand down isn’t personal but based on
performance I would be stunned like most on here.
Time hopefully will tell

How Joel Wilson made elite is an enigma to which I cannot
decipher.

Also worth noting he is still down to umpire games in this
year's IPL next month. In other news, Indian media appears to
have confirmed Madanagopal is also promoted. Will be interesting
to see if him or Nogajski debut in the Bangladesh v Zimbabwe
series next month given the tendency to give Test debuts during
series featuring the less prominent Full Members
