Republic of Ireland v Bulgaria Halil Umut Meler

Halil Umut Meler appears to have sustained an injury. After
consulting and receiving some treatment from the Irish physio he
has decided to carry on for now. Currently ~38 minutes gone. Mr.
Meler looks in some discomfort still. I must confess, I rarely
agree with the RTE commentators on refereeing matters - but in
this case I do feel if Mr. Meler is not 100% he is better to go
off now rather than wait for halftime, he may make his injury
worse and he isn't moving properly to keep up with play IMHO.
I really feel for Mr. Meler, a quality referee who has not had
very much luck in recent times due to events totally outside his
control.

fan but Michael Oliver has had a blinder in France-Croatia. Gone
to extra time

In UEFA games all match officials wear a ‘UEFA Match Official’
badge

Gotcha… I’m getting confused as we have nations league which is
UEFA badges and World Cup qualifiers to which FIFA badges are
primary.

Indeed, my mistake! I also see on Law5 it was reported that he
failed the fitness test at the last seminar.
