Leaving the field of play without permission? Doubt the referee
would have given permission for him to go and sign autographs
while ball was in play!

He had been substituted, left the field and then went to the
crowd, was not part of a goal celebration

I believe that he entered the stands to sign the autographs
which under FIFA rules you cannot do. I can think of many
reasons why this shouldn't be allowed although in this case it
appears harmless. Them are the rules.....

Thank you. I guessed there must be something buried in the FIFA
naughty book
Good spot by 1 of the officials or overly officious? I know
which end I stand.
Had he changed and done it, would it make a difference?

Probably overly officious however as is said on here many many
times, you can't pick and chose which parts of the Laws you
implement or ignore (and yes we all know it happens...)

Surely that makes it a competition rule rather than the Laws of
the Game? Didn't realise you could caution for competition rule
breaches that don't contravene the Laws of the Game.

Also, you can't blame the referee. Turning a blind eye might be
the common sense thing to do, but if he is going to be marked
down as a result its going to negatively impact future
international appointment prospects.
You gotta do what the bosses tell you to do.
