Poor flag from Greenhalgh needing VAR to come in and we get the
first referee announcement in a final domestically.

Excellent performance from John Brooks, who is having a very
good season.
The first half was quite dull but the second half exploded into
life and the last few minutes saw a few interesting incidents,
nothing that the referee couldn’t handle.
Liverpool’s goal was correctly awarded after a long VAR check,
when to the naked eye it looked onside. The announcement from
Brooks that the goal was awarded saw the Liverpool player recoil
in horror as he seemed to misunderstand!
A couple of yellow cards for time wasting at the end, but the
added time on top of the added time seemed fair. John Brooks has
a good style, he has the right balance between aloofness and
getting on with the players. He controlled the game very well
and sanctions appropriately. Does the job properly.
A good appointment to the final and he is a referee of star
quality - without a doubt.

That isn't right, they only don't have to go off following
treatment if they collided with each other. These were two
completely separate injuries.

No chance of a spot kick there… definite momentum and arms
naturally trying to slow down his run.

If it is natural why is it just one player slowing his run with
has arms raised?

Liverpool players hands before celebrating.

Isn’t the arm of Diaz raised too whilst slowing?

Not both arms, Diaz is how you would naturally slow in that
situation, both arms don't go up that way, only in England do we
discuss whether a raised and outstretched hand is a penalty or
not

I think it's only controversial because it is a disliked rival
team ,to a neutral it's not even a discussion. I think Mr
brooks and all team ref had an excellent game .
