Tony Harrington - Forest v Ipswich (FA Cup)

Very impressive from Harrington thus far. Always in control,
yellow cards justified and has tried to help the flow of the
game by not blowing for every bit of contact.
Good decision from Massey-Ellis to rule out Yates header in the
2nd half too.
Only thing I’d slightly disagree with is his decision to restart
play after head injury with a drop ball on the 18 yard box with
Forest attacking and Ipswich defending. Seemed too close to the
penalty area so for me would’ve been drop ball to the keeper

Not a referee I have noticed before. Looks like he is enjoying
himself, i.e. relaxed manner. Good game I think.

An accomplished refereeing performance. Well done Mr Harrington

Not an option for him, the ball was clearly outside of the
penalty area when he stopped play so the only option was a
dropped ball to Forest.
Completely agree that he had an excellent game though.

Obviously I had some skin in the game. Penalty shoot outs are a
lottery but this was so disappointing. Nine excellent penalties
and then the most pathetic attempt by a player who didn't even
look as if he was up for it or wanted to be there at all.
Ipswich should have asked Tony Harrington to take the 5th kick
for them; he was certainly lively, alert and looked to be well
up for the match where I thought he put in an exceedingly good
performance.

I’m not too clued up on Mr Harrington’s footballing skills but
it was a pretty poor penalty.
This may not be the place for this but could you not criticise a
player who for 120 minutes put all his effort into the game. 120
minutes of hard work and endeavour and I respect him for taking
the 5th penalty. I’ve seen worse penalties on my time that have
gone in the goal. Just a good save from Sels

I’ve never really gone along with the theory that penalty shoot
outs are a lottery and my feeling is that the fifth Ipswich
penalty and its taker proved it is anything but. As well as the
skill of the penalty takers I believe it is a real test of a
player’s mentality, a test that unfortunately for Ipswich their
fifth penalty taker failed.
Agree that Harrington maintained the good form he’s shown this
season.

On a more general point but pertaining to this performance as
well, it has been noticeable to me this season that penalty
shootouts that I have seen have been conducted without any
histrionics / timewasting / mind games from goalkeepers (or
anyone else). I find it hard to believe that the players have
taken it upon themselves to clean this up so credit to the
referees for managing the shootouts so effectively.
