       M DONOHUE - Birmingham v Newcastle (FA)

That’s one hell of a call from Lugg to flag that first Newcastle
       goal.
In my opinion, there’s no clear evidence that the whole ball has
crossed the line in its entirety. Lugg wasn’t even in line so
from his angle it looks deceptive that the ball has gone in.

Nigel Lugg must have some incredibly good eyesight if that’s a
goal. Realistically, there’s no way he can tell in real time.
I find it interesting though because last year Birmingham were
in the championship, a league where you must have GLT. So now
they’re in league one they are not permitted to have it. In the
FA Cup, could they not have reinstated it? But anyway I think
GLT should be in all 4 leagues of English football

Shocking call as there is no way he can know for certain if it
has crossed the line from that angle and distance, it's a guess

Thoughts on the challenge by Miley on Leonard. One of those that
makes you wince on the replay with the studs really going into
the knee. Could that be a red card? - endangering safety of an
       opponent?

This is a really feisty match for Donohue and he needs to keep a
lid on this as it could blow up like a tinderbox at any time.
I wonder what VAR would have done with that Miley challenge. It
certainly was a nasty challenge and I could support a red for
       it.

No, both players going for the tackle, Birmingham player could
of pulled out of tackle but he didn't. Think it was just a
natural follow through of kicking a ball.
Didn't tick any of the boxes for SFP, no force, intensity or
       speed

Also think Donohue has completely lost control of this so had to
resort to a flurry of cards

Donohue missing yellows here, based on tonight looks no where
       near ready for the PL

Looks like a goal from the video highlight on Twitter but I
wouldn’t be 100% certain about giving it

The ref will get criticism but I’ve quite enjoyed the feistiness
of this second half. Given the combination of actual bad fouls
and appalling play acting, it’s a tough one and as long as he
learns from it, he’ll be a better official.
