If that's a yellow I'd hate too see what you have to do to get a
red.

Definite red missed by Ward. I still fail to see what those in
authority see in him. He has had some cracking appointments this
season which leaves me baffled

Since my teams promotion to the championship two seasons ago he
is by far the poorest referee I’ve seen .he has done four games
I’ve watched and been dreadful in all 4 . Maybe dreadful is the
requirement. All imo of course .

Ward's failure to be able to spot SPF is a real problem. And
some of his appointments always catch me by surprise!
That challenge takes me back to being in the away end at
Huddersfield when Koroma got away with a dreadful challenge on
Harwood-Bellis. Had to dig it
out:

Remarkably, Ward restarted play with a Huddersfield throw that
night.

Clear SFP, a very dangerous tackle.
He starts to go in preparation for the counter then is caught
entirely flat footed whilst looking in from a poor angle.

Is a red. However lots of referees miss these.

Is that Serious Poul Flay ? Lol
Ward never convinces me whenever i see him referee, although i
will say he isnt the only referee in the top two flights who
cant recognise SFP. The PGMOL certainly muddy the waters with
the interpretations of the laws of the game so not all can be
Laid at the referees door

On reflection I think he would agree its a red card.
Maybe the early production of the yellow card tied his hands and
robbed him of critical thinking time?

Indeed that is always a difficult balance to strike. I suppose
the idea of a yellow card being produced quickly to reduce
adverse reaction does have merit to it. However, I wonder if
English referees were not operating with seemingly unclear
guidance on how to deal with SFP, maybe he may have very quickly
produced a red.
As an aside, for all the stick he got, I always thought Lee
Mason was good at quickly identifying SFP and promptly
dismissing the guilty party.
