Thought that Illingworth was poor in the first semi final with
two decisions quickly overturned. I feel like he'll still get
the final on reputation, and also for him to complete the set of
ICC finals before his retirement.
ICC finals appointments tend to be predictable so Kumar
Dharmasena will probably be down the other end. I believe that
would be deserved because he has had a good tournament.
I would like to see Reiffel and Dharmasena, but that probably
won't happen.

Out of interest does anyone know the last time an ICC Final was
umpired by 2 former test players, if ever?

Having had a quick look, it's a first. Only other possible
current permutation is Dharmasena and Illingworth and they've
never done a final together. ODI World Cup finals have never
featured more than one- Dharmasena in 2015 and 2019, Illingworth
in 2023, Champions Trophy only Dharmasena 2013, World T20 Benson
in 2007, Dharmasena 2016 and 2022 and Illingworth 2024, and WTC
Final, Illingworth in both thus far. Didn't look at women's
event but doubt that would change the equation.
A good reminder of what an excellent career Illingworth has had
though, and unlike some of the greats still seems to be close to
the peak of his powers, or even to have improved with age

Congratulations to Paul Reiffel on being appointed to his first
ICC tournament final!
Illingworth has done the last four ICC tournament finals. That
completes the set for him. Congratulations to him as well!
