It's been quite an eventful set of 3pm games!
The major talking points at Molineux, Lewis-Skelly red I think
is correct or at least never getting overturned due to the
'tackle' being made after the ball has left with no realistic
chance of winning the ball, also there's an element of force and
the ankle is caught in a dangerous way by studs. For the Gomes
second yellow that has to be a straight red and there's no
excuses that Oliver has gotten that wrong.
At Anfield, Encisos challenge on Endo I think was the correct
decision to give yellow but I don't think red would've been
overturned as it was borderline dangerous.
Other incidents with disallowed goals I havent seen at St Mary's
and at Bournemouth, where I'm guessing bmb is reeling in delight
at the result!

Struggle to see the endangering element to Lewis-Skelly's
challenge to make it a red. Studs barely catch the opponent, and
what does is very low on the leg. Obviously it was cynical, with
no attempt to play the ball, but that alone doesn't make it SFP,
it just seems a trip of the kind you see multiple times a
season. Of course this challenge is made all the more
controversial by a challenge that genuinely endangers an
opponent with full body weight, front on, studs first catching
the Arsenal player on the ankle only judged as a YC. [emoji53]

Encisco red card was similar to the red card that a Fulham
player got at SJP for a foul on Longstaff last season where he
jumped high and with force and caught him with his hip in the
side of the head, was widely agreed that was correct at the
time, believe it was on the VAR review with Webb.

The officials are probably lucky Arsenal won else we wouldn�t
hear the end of it. For me it�s two poor decisions, and
completely inexplicable how the Wolves player received less of
sanction that the Arsenal player (completely cynical yes,
dangerous no). Dtrv2 sums it up well.
Encicso may have been saved by the referee�s positioning (first
angle in the link below).

I agree with the above.
I remember the Xhaka one a few years back when Jon Moss was
refereeing, where it looked like a clear yellow but the
crassness of the tackle probably made it a red. This one I don�t
think was a red at all. It was a trip, it was not violent, it
was not SFP, it was not DOGSO. I really struggle to understand
what the referee has seen. If he books him then nobody is
complaining, if he sends him off then it�s all everyone will be
talking about tonight.

Speechless I think is more appropriate. No issues with the
disallowed goal, Dango was offside and it's that simple. Correct
call.

Thank goodness we witnessed another excellent performance from
John Brooks in the late game. Firm authoritative, in control,
but let the game play. All yellows correct. At the top of his
game at the moment, and a shame he started the season injured

Agree with dtrv2 for the Lewis-Skelly incident. I think there�s
a misconception from Oliver that the studs scrap down the leg.
Watching the replay, MLS catches Doherty on the shin with his
foot and then the studs come down on the top of Doherty�s foot.
For me that doesn�t constitute SFP and a red card.
Enciso probably a bit lucky to stay on the pitch. One of those
where they are both entitled to go for the ball but one goes in
with his foot but the other goes with his chest. I think a
yellow card is sufficient enough. Could even put it in the
�orange� category. Given the game was 4-0 at the time I don�t
feel Salisbury felt the need to intervene with the strongest
possible action and one of those where the idea of �game
management� is probably justifiable.
For Joao Gomes challenge, he was always off once he made the
tackle because it was at least a yellow

Much as Michael Oliver is highly rated as a referee and with
justification, today he has got the two KMI�s badly wrong, I
have to say.
Lewis-Skelly is a standard caution, just a normal trip to stop a
promising attack. That�s all it should have been. What Oliver
saw or what his thought process was, I am at a loss to explain.
It wasn�t a dangerous or reckless tackle, otherwise fouls like
this would see the matches abandoned through lack of players.
The lack of a VAR intervention was also puzzling, to put it
mildly.
Then Gomes was sent off for a second caution that was far worse
than the above incident. A tackle delivered with force, reckless
and dangerous and should have resulted in a straight red card,
pure and simple.
Of course all referees make mistakes but the safety net is in
place to rectify clear errors. To justify the Arsenal sending
off as serious foul play is very hard to countenance.
Not a good day I�m afraid for normally a very solid and
dependable referee.
