Chris Kavanagh (VAR John Brooks) - Arsenal v Aston Villa

I wanted to first get my opinion on the handball incident before
others do.
This decision has come from what the law states which clearly
says ‘If the goal scorer uses his hand to gain advantage and
then score immediately then the goal should be disallowed’ (I
know that’s not the exact wording but it’s something similar).
As a result, I think John Brooks is under massive pressure when
reviewing this situation because the law says that any touch on
the arm should be penalised. Now I don’t know what angle Brooks
was looking at but I think there’s no conclusive evidence that
the shot hits Havertz’s hand. I’ve been looking frame by frame
on one of the TV angles and for me there is no evidence to
suggest it was a ‘factual’ handball.
Obviously none of this is attached to Kavanagh who I thought had
another good outing. Maybe a couple of fouls missed if being
picky but he done well.

I think it’s a pretty clear deflection off the arm, and
therefore a very credible VAR intervention in law and also
expectation. The commentators called it before the VAR had even
intervened it was that clear

Very clear it came off the arm in my opinion. VAR intervention
was quick and painless. This is the kind of thing VAR is for

Perhaps you need to find the angle that does show it hit his
hand. clear as day a handball.

I think it’s the angle from behind the goal which gives the
clearest view.

There's on angle that had me questioning the same but then I
managed to see the other correct decision.
I don't think tv helps by repeatedly showing the angle where
there is doubt, controversy gets views though

Another superb performance by Kavanagh in another pulsating
game.
Certainly enhanced proceedings and only resorting to cards where
necessary.
All cards correctly including those issued to the managers.
Very good call from var to disallow the Merino effort that
unfortunately hit Havertz hand, cant blame Kavanagh for not
seeing that in real time.
Kavanagh is certainly having a run of very good performances in
big games or recent, hope it continues.

However if that is a defender and as a result the ball doesn't
go in the goal then there is no offence.
