James Bell - Cardiff v Swansea

Saw the result and looked at the stats and it looked a fairly
comfortable afternoon for him. 5 yellows given but there was one
incident that caught my eye on the highlights.
There was a red card given to the Cardiff manager after he ran
onto the pitch to confront a Swansea player after he made
contact with the manager trying to keep the ball in play. Don’t
think the Swansea player was in the wrong but as a manager you
can’t run onto the pitch to try to confront him. Unacceptable
really so an easy red card for James Bell

I personally feel that the Swansea player knew what he was doing
and was lucky to avoid a card of some sort for his actions
however that doesn't excuse the Cardiff manager's actions and so
a red card was mandatory for him.

I only saw the first half but considering I have seen Bell on
3/4 occasions and was impressed, I was totally underwhelmed on
Saturday, he allowed Joe Allan to make 3/4 tackles breaking up
promising attacks with no card, Callum chambers put in a really
late cynical one on a Swansea player with no card, just felt the
game seemed too big to Bell, and maybe we need only strong SG1
on those games in future, like Oliver Taylor Gillett ! Correct
red for Riza at the end

Thats not entirely practical though, what would be the point of
SG2 even existing if your just gonna use the same 4 refs for big
games. Surely if your at that level, you should be considered
good enough to handle that kind of game. Your not gonna have
other refs develop properly either, as they won’t be given the
       opportunity too.

To add to the discussion on whether or not these sort of games
should be refereed by SG1 the best refereeing performance I have
seen down Cardiff City in the last 2 seasons is Sam Barrott in
the South Wales Derby last season and look what he has gone on
to achieve since then. So I personally feel that Referees in SG2
should be given these games especially those who could get
promoted as these are the sort of games you would get in the
       Premier League.

I actually did my last ever National League game with Belly up
in Stockport. Between him, Doughty & Donohue for best I worked
       with.
Didn’t see the game, but in regards to SG1 doing the big
Chanpionship games; sometimes they will and sometimes they
won’t. You could send Oliver to do one and something
controversial happens, people will complain. As they will
complain regardless or who actually refereed it.
I’d also argue that some of the upper SG2 officials are better
than some of the mid/lower SG1 lot. Especially of the batch that
       recently retired.
