       S ATTWELL - Newcastle v Bournemouth

Very impressed with Attwell this afternoon, not really sure why
the Newcastle fans are chuntering in anger towards the
       officials.
VAR correctly comes in and disallowed the third AFCB goal after
ball out of play. Not sure if Aspinall was directly in line to
       judge it accurately.
Dealt with the handbags sensibly and calmly when other officials
could have flashed more cards generating more tension.
Shame the orange is out though…. 👎😂

He had a terrible moment just before half time correctly waves
away a free kick appeal from Newcastle but then after a cynical
foul by Newcastle he decides to give them the free kick and book
the player, apart from that a good game

Not a brilliant ending to the first half, nearly lost control.
Joelinton should have seen two yellows, one for the foul he
committed and one for his part in the melee however he only saw
one yellow as did Kluivert for his part in the melee.
       Much better second half.
Let a lot go, was very lenient which was very nearly his
       downfall.
Half time came at a very good time for him.
Generally he was excellent in a feisty game, the type of which
       he often struggles in.
There will be a very ecstatic cherries fan no doubt

Myself, AFCB Jim & Chippenham Cherry will all be happy bunnies
with that result. Team picking itself with only 12 first team
players fit, no recognised strikers, back 4 with an average age
of 21, a bench full of 12 years olds (ok 17/18 but the shot of
the bench looked like a schoolboys day out...) from the academy,
including a player signed yesterday as an academy player who was
ushered straight onto the players coach before the ink was even
dry, that's some way to be introduced to the senior squad! Just
       mental.
As to team ref I could moan about a few things, 2 missed corners
in the first half amongst other things but after a cracking game
to watch, 4 superb goals and 3 very deserved points I'm just
going to carry on celebrating instead!

Any referee observer watching that would say that he took a risk
by letting so much go. It could have led to him losing control,
but ultimately it didn't, and I thought he dealt with the melee
before half time really well. That was probably a bit of a wake
up call that he needed to tighten the reigns a little, which he
duly did in the second half, albeit without strangling the life
out of the game. Six yellow cards for Bournemouth, so
presumably a fine will be coming their way, a risk that they
will probably just have to accept with the intensity of Iraola's
       way of playing.
Certainly think Attwell's approach contributed to a very
       entertaining game for the neutral.

Just seen some highlights and attwell took a risk, which just
paid off. But the end of the first half as numerous people have
commented looked messy ! Weak and was prob caused by his
approach to the game, referees need to think back to the old
school approach set the standards early and then the rest of the
game will become a lot simpler, once players know the boundaries
the majority of games will pass with no problems. But now there
is an over acceptance to allow technical fouls, delaying
restarts etc at the start of the game, me personally feel this
has made the game I use to love become a poor product on what we
use to view, watch and participate in.

Agree with this - it's a very fine line between letting things
go, and allowing an excellent competive game of football to
ensue, or clamping down early and getting control of a rather
more sterile game. I think he got it right, just about. Plenty
of talking to players and captains, the late 1st half melee he
had to deal with and have more of a tight rein in the 2nd half
to keep a lid on things. No argument with the disallowed 3rd,
some were questioning if play had gone on too long after the
ball went out. Fine if it's a marginal offside then a new phase
of play, different with a factual "ball out of play".
Yes he missed a couple of corners that should have been given to
AFCB, but it was a couple of those that the officials find it
difficult to spot being on the blind side, so I can live with
       those.
I don't know why Jebbison was booked late on, I guess I just
       missed something.
Delighted with the performance and result, way beyond my
expectations, I'd have snapped your hand off for a draw before
       kick off......
