Brooks really doesn’t take any nonsense from the players…
I know he won’t have the brilliance and sternness of Collina but
I have to say he is probably the only official I’ve seen in
recent years who could run him close to his handling of matches
       and his persona.

Now that is a shocking decision.no corner for united even though
ball is nearly a yard out.ref should have seen it but
       inexcusable from linesman

Lino must have had his eyes shut. Joking aside, arguably a worse
decision than Hooper’s award of a corner before Arsenal’s goal
       last night

Think about where the ball was, where the keeper's body was, and
where the AR was. Match officials don't have x-ray vision, if
the keeper's body is between them and the ball they can't see it
crossing the line. This is one where the referee needs to take
control, it was so obvious the referee has to step in.

AR2 was well behind play abt midway between 6 and 18 yard lines,
for whatever reason, with keeper in his line of vision and poss
       other players.
The ref from his angle is never going to be sure if the ball
went out of play and if it had resulted in a goal var would have
       intervened.

In England maybe so but I think most of the top UEFA referees
are very strong 'personality' referees who are far closer to
       Collina in that respect.
But, I am being pernickety when I don't need to be (perhaps I
shouldn't post after 11 pm!) - I agree with your underlying
point, I like Brooks' sternness, I have always preferred
referees that maintain a bit of distance from players. Not a
huge distance, but I far prefer polite and aloof that matey and
       chatty.

Another fantastic display. Firm authoritative but in control
throughout. Didn’t blow for unnecessary sort free kicks and let
game flow where possible. All yellows correct
Best referee in the league at this moment
