Plus Darren Cann who continues to perform to a remarkably high
level week in week out even though he is approaching the end of
his career.
I hope he remains on the PGMOL books to coach and nurture the
next brigade of assistants coming through.
They will have an exceptional tutor if he does pursue this line
of employment.

I didn’t watch this game but I agree with all comments. Craig
seems like such an approachable person - you can see this
through his interviews. It must be great working with him. He’s
trustworthy and deserves a final this season for his hard work.

I agree entirely. Some referees seem to go out of their way to
make it all about them. Craig Pawson is the absolute antithesis
of this ego driven style of officiating. I've seen him three
times and on each occasion he delivered the match safely and
with the minimum of fuss. I have never had the pleasure of
meeting him and I suppose it's possible that he's a real hell
raiser but I very much doubt that. His officiating is quiet and
understated so I wouldn't be at all surprised if that reflects
his personality.

From what i have heard from someone who has attended an RA
meeting he has presented at, he is very quietly spoken (unusual
for a yorkshire man!

I fully agree. I don't want to speak for anyone but I believe
that bmb has commented a number of times that Mr. Pawson is a
very fine person indeed.
A recent interview with him on leaving the FIFA list reflects
his understated manner on the pitch, I must also credit him on
his humility - he seems far more interested in speaking on the
honor and privilege of being an international referee than on
his own (considerable) achievements. In GAA, my sport, I have
met many if not most of the current top referees, while most are
very decent people, they are usually outgoing types, perfectly
happy to hold the room. It is nice to see someone like Craig who
is perhaps a little more introverted demonstrate that you can
still be a top official.

You might see more of Gillett as well later in the season if
Liverpool and Everton stay in their present league positions

He most certainly is. Very calm, very sweet and as mentioned
very quietly spoken. Knows his stuff as well and imo will make a
great coach one day. He has all the right attributes. I’m a big
fan of him both as a referee and as a person.
