F A Cup 3rd Round weekend

Who says the magic of the F A Cup has gone? Just look/watch
Sheffield Utd v Cardiff City tonight ( Thursday !)
I feel sorry for Adam Herczeg. When he got the appointment
between 2 championship sides that have been in the premiership
in the not too far past, I'm sure he would have been looking
forward to what should have been one of the biggest games of his
career so far. What has he got, basically a reserve game in
front of an expected 6,000 gate.
It would be interesting to know what the pricing level was set
at and did Sheffield make any effort to get a crowd in or just
accept as it was on a Thursday night and on BBC Wales not to
bother.
Is there anyone from the FA looking at this and feeling remotely
embarrassed by this. And as for the scrapping of replays!!
Wouldn't it be good if clubs that don't care about these "early"
rounds be allowed to withdraw entirely and save their players.

Not sure replays would make any difference, there'd just be
4,000 at Cardiff if it went to a draw.
This isn't anything new. Cup games aren't covered by season
tickets, fans know that teams will often put reserve, or
severely weakened, teams out, so they don't go unless it is a
glamour tie.

However, if they made good progress and by some miracle got to
Wembley, they would be inundated by fans moaning that they could
not get tickets.
Plus ca change.

not get tickets.

But they would be OK as they would be season ticket holders so
guaranteed a final ticket. More ironic would be those that paid
to go tonight that aren't season tickets probably wouldn't get
tickets for the final.
It is what it is, and as I said, far from anything new.

I feel like countries overseas have a lot to answer for this,
without really realising it.
In Australia for example, the streaming broadcaster of exclusive
PL rights, Optus Sport, snapped up FAC rights from 3rd Round
onwards, and this is their first season.
I've been seeing ads everywhere for it in Sydney. On buses, on
the tunnel walls waiting for a train, across all of my socials,
they are pumping it out that they have the rights and the magic
of the cup is here
Whilst it sucks, and I sympathise with the paying fans of both
teams here, a 6am kick off time for us in Australia is far more
convenient to watch than it is a 2am(3pmKO).
Make no mistake about it; any kick off time in the UK past 5pm
is not for the fans of the participating teams. It's for the
global audience.

100% it is down to TV rights, we already have the baffling
situation that 100% of EPL games can be watched anywhere in the
World, except of course the country the game are being played
in.
But equally some of the kick offs are strange. Tomorrow we have
Coventry vs Wednesday, Leyton Orient vs Derby and Mansfield vs
Wigan all kicking off at 18:00. From what I can ascertain they
aren't being televised anywhere in the world, so the mind
boggles as to why they aren't standard 3pm kick offs.

I suspect we're to blame for that. [emoji23]
All three of those games are live, and available to watch via
Optus Sport here in Australia.

We have a points system at AFCB and cup points are separate to
league points. Cup points take priority in cup games so you drag
yourself out to watch the dev squad just to make sure you’re
first in line for the latter stages if you get there!

Not ideal kick off times in the present weather but then i guess
a frozen pitch at 6pm might have been frozen at q
12 or 2pm

Given that the appointments were not made until Monday, unless
he lives a cocoon insulated from all football knowledge apart
from when he is on the pitch, I rather suspect Mr Herczeg would
have known exactly what to expect from this game.
