Well the first in stadia announcement for VAR and it went well….
Must have been a little nerve wracking for an official to do it
for the first time.. but went without a hitch.
Definitely a step in the right direction.

Nice and simple decision for var helped that, but I do think
it's a step towards what is needed

A shocker from Stuart Attwell.. Misses a clear second yellow and
the Spurs man now scores. A shocker

Is it just me or was the images shown a bit blurry?
Not ideal for the var

Bergvall should probably have walked for his second yellow after
the foul on Tsimikas.
The first yellow, there was no contact at all with Diaz.

Bergvall (who probably shouldn’t have been initially been
booked) should have been shown a 2nd yellow for a poor late
challenge on Tsimikas

Didn't see the first yellow but the spurs player who scored
should have been sent off minutes before

Evened itself out as 1st yellow probably wasn’t - I disagreed
with it anyway. Good overall performance from Attwell, who is
another showing good consistency at the moment.

As much as it did even itself out, that shouldn’t really be an
excuse for a top referee. You have to give the correct sanction
for the offence carried out and that 2nd challenge from Bergvall
warranted a second yellow.
I agree that apart from those incidents that Attwell had a good
game

I am unsure the stadium announcement is of any great benefit. If
it is a stepping stone to more transparent measures being
implemented - live TV/stadium with earpiece feed of the VAR
audio, then well and good. But I am skeptical that this will
lead to anything further, or that it is necessary to lead to
anything further.
To me both of Bergvall challenges were absolutely clear yellow
cards. Too much emphasis about no contact on the first one by
the commentators, challenge was clearly reckless, just because
by sheer luck there is no contact does not mean there should be
no card. Second challenge is a clear yellow card, poor call by
Attwell not to stop the game and send him off.
Regardless though the Liverpool bench member who was cautioned
should have been sent off for his aggressive remonstration with
Tim Robinson. Unacceptable.
Now a very clear push on Diaz, in no way normal contact, to me
should be an OFR and penalty kick.
Those two isolated incidents aside, thought Attwell did a good
job.
