I see Hackett has been growling in the media following this
       weekends action.
Suffice it to say he thought Bond was terrible. Quote is from
       football insider.
“I watched this game, I thought it was a poor performance from
the referee. I think that he didn’t look confident, worried
about his movement, he wasn’t taking up good positions, so that
leaves him vulnerable, and he lacked authority.
“Particularly when players were surrounding him almost on a
regular basis he took no action what so ever, he allowed players
to surround him, he allowed players probably to intimidate him,
so pictorially he didn’t look right as a referee I’m thinking
‘you’re not having a good game’.
“Around the penalty kick decisions he didn’t solve one of them,
I left with a view of who’s refereeing this match: the referee
or VAR, and it was the VAR.
“In fairness, the VAR pulled him out of the mire on more than
one occasion so he needs some operational advice. I don’t
particularly rate him I have to say that, it’s harsh but I
didn’t rate this performance at all, he was poor.
“I think the manager was showing his frustrations on the
technical area, pictorially I don’t think that helps the game
generally, but you could sense he was frustrated by it all, as
       the players were.
“Make these decisions, being part of the Premier League and
being an elite referee is about making the big calls and getting
them right and I just felt that the VAR was in control and not
       Darren Bond.”
Clearly Hackett missed the position 007 took up when there was a
risk of handball outside the box. He was in the perfect position
directly in line with the penalty area to judge it accurately.
As for his general comments… plain awful.
How he can say that he (007) didn’t solve any of the penalty
kick decisions is completely inaccurate. The foul by Castagne
was a damn good spot IMO.

For Hackett to opine about a referee's movement is just too
       hilarious for words.

Wow! That is some incredibly harsh words from Hackett. How on
earth can he say VAR was in control when VAR intervened in only
1 out of 4 KMIs (three pens and possible DOGSO).
I do agree about the lack of action on dissent but Bond chose to
take that approach so we have to accept it.
I still believe for Fulham’s first penalty he saw Wilson’s back
leg clip his front leg which caused him to go down. Bond clearly
had enough doubt in that so he didn’t give it onfield but he
didn’t see the clip from Morsy, probably cause he had to look
through him. But that’s what VAR is for, a clear error which was
       quickly resolved.
Agree about your comment about the possible handball outside the
penalty area. That was very good positioning and reading of the
       game

referee, Wayne Barnes issued a red card to him. Now, that is
brilliant officiating, taking no stick from the players because
he’s there to do a job and referee the game fairly.

And here it is. Strong officiating from the excellent Wayne

In the final few seconds of this clip the expert summariser
says: "If Dylan Hartley has sworn at the referee then that was
the right decision. This is rugby, it is not football and we
don't want that". He is correct and one can only conclude that
       football does want that.

I think it best if everyone ignores Hackett's comments. Then
       they might just go away.

Sadly chose the standard PL ‘get out’ which is to quickly turn
away and pretend you didn’t see/hear it - unfortunately the TV
shows he categorically did. The aggressive finger in face is, at
the very least, blatant dissent by action. Beyond me, as a RC
for such things is the one thing referees would get pretty much
       full support from fans/pundits!
Equally totally undermines the other YCs (and numerous 2YCs) for
dissent which players have had and has to be done fairly and
consistently to avoid affecting the integrity of results,
especially as players start to get suspended for totting up.
Would also help the VAR system - no point in screaming at ref
before VAR has had the chance to fix it. Would’ve made a RC even
       more ridiculous for the player.

It might well get support from those with a passing interest in
refereeing such as on this forum, it most definitely wouldn't
from the general footballing public. As evidenced by Michael
Oliver and his wife getting death threats after he sent off
       Gianluigi Buffon for OFFINABUS.
I also remember Anthony Taylor getting pelters online for
sending off Lewis Dunk for OFFINABUS. Rightly or wrongly the
majority of the general public think that referees are fair game
for abuse and that if they don't like it they shouldn't take up
       the whistle.
