Had a bit of time to reflect on the game and comment on the
KMI’s so here we go.
Touch and go on the Davis incident, I think Bond is well within
his right to initially give yellow and I think there is just
enough doubt (only just) for VAR to back that up.
Wilson Penalty incident is correct. I think 007 saw Wilson clip
his own legs which is why he didn’t give it but correct VAR
intervention. The biggest problem I had in this passage of play
is the dissent from Wilson. I won’t post the exact wording in
here but to me calling a referee a cheat could easily warrant a
red card - it’s simply abusive and undermines the job of the
referee. No action on that was very poor from Bond but a clear
penalty and yellow card for Morsy.
Then a correct decision for the penalty for Delap. Castagne
kicks the foot of Delap which was a good spot from the ref. It
was probably the softest of penalties given in the game but
still correct for me.
Another correct penalty decision for the foul on Jimenez which
was a clear trip by Davis. No complaints with that either.
By no means was it a terrible performance from Bond and it
sounds like he shouldn’t be getting the criticism he is getting
from some fans and the Fulham manager (which again is
unacceptable by saying he wasn’t Premier League level worthy.
I’m sure he wasn’t saying that about Harrington at Liverpool). I
think a solid 6 or 7/10 for 007 today

Wilson's words were clear to see to even the most basic
lip-reader. Bond's lack of any disciplinary action says two
things:
1. This type of behaviour is perfectly acceptable on the field
of play and every referee from Anfield to the local rec now has
to take it.
2. Bond knows what his employers want him to do and - more
importantly - what they do not want him to do. He is not daft
and many of us in the same position would do the same. Shame
about the Laws of the Game though.
Finally, with Silva as a manager, Wilson's behaviour is entirely
unsurprising.

I don’t want people to think I’m upset by the lack of
disciplinary action on Wilson but thinking about this incident
reminds of something I’ve watched in the past.
It was in a rugby final (Premiership final I think it’s called)
and a player who (if I remember correctly) was England captain
at the time called the referee ‘a f****** cheat’ and the
referee, Wayne Barnes issued a red card to him. Now, that is
brilliant officiating, taking no stick from the players because
he’s there to do a job and referee the game fairly.
It seems to many premier league fans that we can only dream of
our officials taking similar action for similar offences…

watching on Sky today as my youngest lad plays Sunday football
and obviously it’s family first (or in other words, my missus
point blank refused to go out in this weather and I had to be
there!)
>
> Have to disagree with my fellow Fulham correspondent TTFL, I
think the foul on Wilson is a blatant red card. He’s clean
through and with the pace he is travelling at, he is clearly
getting to the ball before the covering defender. Clear DOGSO
for me.
>
> The handball in the box, I’m not sure about. Can’t expect Bond
to see that in real time, no blame attached to him. Is there
enough for VAR to get involved? Personally I’d say it’s a
handball offence, his arm is away from his side and appears to
go towards the ball. Perhaps not quite obvious enough for an
intervention, so no real complaints.
>
> The first Fulham penalty - here I do have an issue with Bond.
That is the easiest award of a penalty you’ll ever see. He’s
looking straight at it, no one in his line of vision. I can’t
fathom how he has not given that. VAR had no choice but to come
in. For a referee at this level not to see it is bizarre.
>
> The next two pens are also clear cut and don’t need comment.
>
> Wilson gobbing off at Bond is completely unacceptable. Can
understand his frustration at a the pen not originally being
awarded, but you can never ever throw the cheat word around and
he’ll hopefully be dealt with retrospectively. No excuse for
that at all.

> As for ‘moany Marco’, well, his antics on the sidelines have
never sat well with me, but to his credit, up until today
anyway, he has been very well behaved this season and it’s been
great to see. He did lose his head today, no doubt about it, and
it isn’t a good look.
>
> Overall, a tough day at the office for Bond. For me, he got
two KMI’s wrong, the non red card and first Fulham penalty.

Ipswich stay up.

I think the doubt on the DOGSO / no DOGSO debate comes from
Wilson's first touch (before he is fouled). It is not a good
touch and significantly reduces the control he has on the ball.
Its possible he is not going to get the next touch and - even if
he does - it is less likely to he an obvious goal-scoring
opportunity. If his first touch had enhanced his control of the
ball and taken him towards goal with the ball fully under his
control; then DOGSO is much more likely. Ref's call in this
case and - for what it is worth - I agree with the Ref's
decision.

He did and there were absolutely no complaints from those
involved in the game of Rugby Union. But (at the risk of
labouring a point), Mr Barnes also knew what his employers
wanted and delivered. Its just that his employers and Mr.
Bond's employers want different things.

I'm not sure how anyone can class Bond as having had a "good"
game, when he got at least one KMI incident wrong and failed to
properly deal with a plethora of dissent/abuse correctly on more
than occasion.

A premiur league ref shouldn’t need var for the first pen.
The potential dogso is very 50:50 for me.i am leaning towards
red just but can understand why yellow was given and don’t think
it was one for var to intervene

Bond sadly had an awful game today sadly.
His had a nice run lately but today he was well out of his depth
today.
Failed to spot a key KMI for the pen, was a blatant pen !!
How on earth does he not send off Wilson, Bond has let down
every referee operating below the national league … clear clear
foul language, and imo he lost his bottle. Sad Mr Bond because
last few games you done ok.

Watched most of the first half live, and caught the highlights
after so can't give a thorough opinion on it. Certainly from
what I did watch live I thought 007 was having a good game. My
gut instinct for the potential DOGSO watching live was a caution
(which those at home with me can attest to having heard me
shouting yellow at the TV screen) and the delay in producing the
caution certainly gave me pause to think Bond might have gone
for a red, personally pleased he didn't. Personally I have too
much doubt over retaining possession there, you can see that
both the Ipswich goalkeeper and covering defender slow up
immediately after Wilson goes down so the 'obvious' nature of
DOGSO isn't quite there for me as I feel both of those players
have a reasonable chance of getting to the ball if Wilson isn't
fouled. Equally though if Bond issues a red card there, I'm not
entirely sure VAR intervenes depending on what information he
relays.
A common theme that I really dislike watching the premier
league of late is seeing the match officials be surrounded after
decisions and certainly would've liked to see a caution issued
to one of the players surrounding him as he deliberated with his
team - though that's coming from the context that I've now been
officiating with a diluted version of the UEFA captain's policy
for nearly 6 months.
I do agree that the back to back penalty shouts for the handball
by Woolfenden and potential foul by Morsy were correctly left.
In my opinion the ball ricochets a lot from close and unexpected
angles onto Woolfenden's arm, and that the Morsy challenge I
feel definitely is closer to a coming together than a foul.
Looking at the first penalty incident, something I feel has been
left aside is that Bond plays an excellent advantage to Fulham
in the build up to it. Observing from the live angle on the
replay it is very clearly a trip and a penalty, however as
others have rightly said it looks like his view is obscured, and
I fully agree that Wilson should be penalised for his reaction.
You can see his teammates shove him away knowing he's likely to
get himself in trouble for that. The reaction of Silva isn't
shown in the highlights but from talking to a colleague of mine
who did watch the match live I'm reliably informed as others
have noted he's lucky to have escaped without a sanction as
well.
2nd penalty I agree clear cut and happy to see Bond give it
live. Again has a load of Fulham players running towards him in
the aftermath.
Good call on the penalty awarded for the foul by Davis on
Jimenez, looks like AR2 provides some input over the headset on
this incident too. Certainly would've had a much clearer view of
it than Bond.
Can't comment too much on the overall performance as said but to
echo what others have said I do worry about the precedent being
set in the PL at the moment for allowing a high level of mobbing
by players, abuse by players and team officials and the impact
it's going to have at grassroots in England and further afield.
Certainly by my count there's at least 3 times in this match
Bond has players running at him to surround him from distance.
Another cause for concern is that Wilson escaped a sanction for
calling Bond a f****ing cheat, considering the fuss that was
made I believe it was last season when Anthony Taylor dismissed
Dunk for using offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or
action(s) being the first such dismissal in a number of years in
the PL I worry that officials are being too hands off dealing
with it. I can understand the perspective of it being considered
harsh in some circles after getting a KMI wrong but as I think
we can all agree it shouldn't leave an open door for players or
team officials to have free reign to abuse match officials if
they feel aggrieved by a decision.

Barnes
