If it's that similar to this one, I'd be surprised if the
consensus was that it was a handling offence. However, similar
doesn't mean it's the same, so you'd need to show us what it was
if you wish to compare them.

All of this is true, but doesn’t mean it’s a punishable
handball. Laws have never mentioned giving possession etc - just
a long-standing myth. It’s already been made complicated enough.
Completely accidental (yes); arm in totally natural position for
that play (yes); immediately scores (no) = play on. Just bad
luck in then results in a goal. Certainly VAR can’t get
involved.
Another issue is two handballs are never exactly the same,
especially as the criteria / process is now so nuanced.
The second one is different. completely accidental (no - think
he knows it’s going past him?); arm in totally natural position
for that play (no) - more I saw it, more it should actually be a
2YC for SPA …
Separately thought the shoulder to the face was a penalty.
Accidental but Gordon turned him and defender caught him late
(just like most fouls with the feet are) - the fact it’s the
shoulder makes no difference.

Agreed on the penalty. It was Kulusevski who has very recent
previous for this sort of thing as well!

Only saw the MOTd highlights but Burn was very lucky to survive
and Kulusevski should have been sent off and a penalty awarded
for his challenge on Gordon.
Jimenez was sent off by VAR up at Newcastle last season for an
out of control challenge on the head area on Lewis Hall and the
one yesterday in my view seriously endangers an opponent’s
safety. Any contact on the head with force could do serious
damage.

There is a major issue in the PL with this and it's something
that PGMOL clearly has problems with.
I can think of at least 5 incidents in the past couple of
seasons where there has been deliberate contact with the head
using an arm / elbow and none have resulted in a red card or a
VAR intervention. Carlos Vinicius did it twice for Fulham in
short succession, Guimaraes on Jorginho, Kulusevski on Lavia and
Gordon, as well as the horrific attempt by Joao Pedro.

Something not quite right with Madley. Wonder if he’s still
feeling effects of early season injury as he was certainly way
off his best in this game and wasn’t great in previous games

Postacoglou’s post match comments were strange and almost
amounted to charging the officials with obvious bias. Will he
get a charge for this. Also, had that goal been scored at the
other end of the pitch, would he have wanted it to be
disallowed?

Postacoglou's comments were those of a man who felt his team had
been very hard done by through refereeing decisions ( he has a
point if not a particularly strong one ) and was seeking to
insinuate something without actually saying it. Whether that
something is bias on the part of Andy Madley only Postacoglou
will know. Watching the match on TV I thought Madley had a
somewhat indifferent match but I don't believe for a single
second he is biased against Spurs on in favour of Newcastle.
Properly indifferent, in the old fashioned meaning of the word.

In Europe that goal wouldn’t have stood. I was at Toulouse when
Liverpool had a goal disallowed after a lengthy VAR farce for an
alleged handball 19 seconds before the ball went in. MacAllister
didn’t even handle it!
However Postecoglou has just adopted the standard manager’s
excuse for his shortcomings and is blaming the officials. The
same manager who suggested other managers should “just get on
with it” when a factually incorrect decision went in his favour.
I think greater tolerance for on-field decisions and less VAR
involvement (none at all is my preference) is a good thing.

I'm surprised more hasn't been discussed about this as I also
felt it should have been a penalty. Coincidentally or
otherwise, the opposing player was Kulusevski, - he with the
elbow to Lavia's head a couple of weeks ago when the referee
with a seemingly a clear view only gave a free kick.
In this instance it may have been accidental but it won't have
improved his reputation among opposing fans.
