And I am sure that when the referee see the incident back he
will be devastated. There were two excellent chances for both
teams to score when one on one. These were clear cut chances to
score but they put it wide and then the 2nd was scuffed to the
goal keeper. Again. They are two monumental errors by the
players which, if they had scored (def should have) would have
had a massive impact on the game and also the group.

And those errors may well lead to players not being picked next
time or extra practice between games
The same should happen for the referee

My team has got players in it who have been ridiculed all
season. Today they were applauded off the pitch.

Dreadful call. I can't understand how his AR1 failed to see
where the infraction took place.

Yes, he made a mistake as I have said previously. Just like
players.
TVOS - your right, fans pay to watch the players perform and
underperform. Wouldn’t it be nice though if a referee actually
got applauded for making some great decisions

Nowhere near as devastated as a team who don't qualify for the
Euros because of a frankly dreadful decision.
I'd completely agree with you if we were talking on a league
game. Different when decisions like that are called in a league
match, they are a longer campaign and more opportunities for the
players to do their jobs & decisions to balance themselves out.
In short term qualifying campaigns/Euros/World Cups referees
have to be 100% sure, there is no way that he could have been
sure of that decision and if he was sure then he has no place
being out there on a football pitch at this level.

Sorry but what a load of tosh. I am sure at the time he saw the
fouls and was sure it was inside. Yes he got it wrong. It was an
error. As I have said before, many other referees have made
huge errors. Poll - World Cup (3 yellows)
, Webb World Cup final (red card cahenge), Tom Henning Ovtebo
(Chelsea v Barcelona). Martin Atkinson (goal given in semi final
of FA Cup at Wembley by him when ball did not cross the line
(Spurs v chelsea 2012) Collina (Champions league final missed
penalty)
All great referees who have also made crucial errors. Did they
have a place being out there afterwards??? I think they did.
