Bulgaria v Montenegro - Ruddy Buquet

80th min with Montenegro 1-0 up the ref gave a dreadful pen
call. Foul yes but at least 3 feet outside of the box! Dreadful
call. Doesn't really show the refs position so not sure what
sort of view he had. Same side as AR I believe so no way he
could help. Needed AAR or VAR maybe if his view impeded but
then he should not have given the pen if it was.
Bulgaria scored from the pen & the game ended 1-1. That could
be a huge cost to 1 team and a huge boost to the other come the
end of the qualifiers.

I have a feeling that Ruddy Buquet has become to Montenegro what
Hategan is to Northern Ireland and Karasev to Hungary!

Indeed we do BUT if you are not sure you do not give a penalty.
One of our instructors (whilst writing with a quill) always said
to us focus on a point on the floor where the defender was, blow
whistle to indicate foul and then move closer. Once you have
assessed his position confirm the outcome.
It was not even close to being a penalty.
Plus I dont think its worth a yelliw card either

I agree that it's not a yellow and that it is outside. The
referee just misjudged it and got it wrong. I am sure your
instructor (with a quill) also said that everyone makes
mistakes.
I am sure the likes of Webb, Clattenburg, Collina, Oliver,
Taylor, Mason, Madley, Linnington, Whitestone, Hair, Donohue and
so on have made mistakes.

Just watched it and it wasn't even close, he and his AR must
have been a long way away to have not even had doubt?

I agree about the forum and the discussions as some posts are
really good. I was merely stating that everyone makes mistakes
and it's easy to point them out as they are always highlighted.
So we have one incorrect penalty. In the game, there were also
some very good calls for other decisions. Why don't we look at
some of the good parts of Ruddy's game as well not just the
negative Let's have a balanced view of each referees
performance. Not just a negative point.

Were these other decisions crucial to the result?
People are going to have a tendency to concentrate on the KMI
rather than a correctly-awarded throw-in, for example.

Every decision that the referee gives is crucial to the game. be
it a throw-in, free kick or goal kick.
Whilst I watched the majority of this game, there were actually
3 other penalty decisions not given. These I felt he called
correct. two for handball as I wouldn't say it was deliberate
and one was a coming together. There were 6 cautions in the game
which I agreed with. He could of had one more after a really
good advantage but chose to just speak to Ivanic which seemed to
work. He played some really good advantage, letting the game
flow well as it was a bit one sided at times by the home team.
He played his part well in that area.
So, yes there were other things in the game of a positive note
that if called incorrectly would of had a negative impact on the
game. He got these right.

Thanks for confirming what you have in the first sentence; I
wouldn't have known otherwise.
Continue to miss the point by all means, though.
