I do feel as though there has been an increased use of Oliver
and Taylor since Atkinson stopped doing the appointments. Seems
a step backwards to me.
Happy to see Brammall visit the SoL!
Taylor has had 17 appointments and Oliver 13. Next most is
Kavangh with 13, and then 4 refs with 12 which seems excessive!
who’s in charge of the appointments now?17 is definitely
too much when you mix that with champions league aswell
I think i saw Hugh Dallas name mentioned on an earlier
appointments thread.
17 does seem a lot for Taylor, perhaps he gets more onfield
appointments as he doesnt do var by choice?
Yes Hugh Dallas is doing them. Not sure if it’s a permanent
appointment or if he’s covering until someone is appointed
permanently.
Why has Dallas been dragged in to do it ? How hard can it be to
allocate 10 referees a week …? Give me an IPad and a nice salary
and I’ll do it 🙄!
Ditto! Then I can ban orange too 👍😂👌

Does Howard Webb have any input to these appointments or is he
totally independent from it? I’ve always found it an odd
structure that the person who is in large part charged with
setting the general standards and practices for referees
doesn’t appoint them. But maybe the idea is to keep him
independent from it, is this a standard management structure?
I’m clueless in that area.

I asked first 🤣 although I won’t get picked, as I like
the yellow and the orange …. but would insist on a fifth colour
being immediately provided to the highest profile league in the
world before I’d appoint any games - we all have our quirks!

Imo they could have easily used someone else on Liverpool
united.olivers last game with united was against Liverpool where
he gave unprecedented 2 yellows in 5seconds for dissent(which I
support if it was done consistently but hasn’t been done by him
or anyone else since) and was also var when he gave a clearly
wrong penalty to West Ham. brooks, kavanagh could have done it
