Look I understand your frustration with this decision and I’m
probably in the minority when it comes say this but the second
video is proof why we get frustrated with certain VAR decisions.
That video must be slowed down to about x0.25 speed and it’s
still incredibly difficult to tell whether there is no contact
or not.
From previous episodes of the Match Officials Mic’d Up, Oliver
wants to see the incidents at full speed and if he doesn’t have
clear and obvious evidence of no penalty (in his opinion) then
he can’t do anything else than back up the penalty and say ‘I’ve
got no conclusive evidence to overturn your decision’

I'm frustrated with VAR / the KMI panel for all sorts of
reasons.
I've just read that the Premier League's Key Match Incidents
(KMI) Panel voted on a split 3-2 decision that no red card was
correct on field, and 4-1 for no VAR intervention regarding
Kulusevski's elbow on Lavia. I'm sure they will come up with the
same nonsense for Pedro's attempted elbow on the Brentford
player.
With VAR, I find it utterly astonishing that you can have
Pickford attempt to obliterate a player and not receive any
sanction, and then a player not touched be awarded a penalty
like last night.
VAR is an utter shambles, and the KMI panel / PGMOL are using
sophistry and sleight of hand to try and tell us to ignore the
evidence of our own eyes.

100% agree. Arguably, VAR is in a worse place now than it was a
year ago. There seems to be no understanding of where to
intervene and to be honest, I don’t think any of us would be
that upset with just the referees decision at the moment. If it
was just referees decision then I think Madley would have sent
off pedro and other acts of violent conduct would be acted upon.
I don’t like the KMI panel either because a 3-2 split does not
help the cause because the PGMOL will always back the decision.
Two of the same incidents could occur with one red card and one
yellow card but could both be 3-2 splits. What happens then is
some explanation to justify why this outcome was reached with/or
lack of intervention. They are so reluctant to say ‘sorry we got
one wrong’ and just go back to the basics of the law.
All of the things that the PGMOL shouldn’t be doing is changing
the law to suit what they want because to me, that is what it
seems at the moment

In other words, do you mean that you would rather the match be
in the charge of the onfield officials instead of a committee.
Sadly, the introduction of VAR has led to more confusion because
of Law changes and their interpretation, particularly with
subjective decisions and, in spite of all the talk about
improvement, comments over the microphone etc., etc. ad nauseam.
it isn't going to get any better.
Offisde decisions are still taking an eternity to make, in
spite of them supposedly being automatic or semi-automatic.
As can clearly be seen on this board, the more opinions you
introduce the more confused things become and it is ruining a
very simple game as a specatcle ------in my opinion of course --
which is probably wrong in the eyes of all VAR supporters.

There's absolutely no contact as the angle from behind shows.
Delap is past the keeper. If you view the side on / from behind
videos at the same time contact is actually impossible based on
their respective positions.

Offside decisions are not automatic or semi automatic as it is
in uefa games because the pgmol think its too costly and they
can get a cheaper version which is taking an eternity. I am sure
the match officials would prefer to use the uefa system but are
left with the etch a sketch alternative hence it taking so long.

Thanks for the clarification about the offside. I have to admit
that I don't follow much football at the top level these days,
preferring to go and watch non-league where you get a game
without interference and which is still enjoyable in spite of
the skill level being well below the top players. I love the
etch a sketch designation. lol
