A good Lancashire derby for Mr Kitchen for a game which would
normally go to SG1?. Otherwise, fairly standard appointing

It would appear that major penalty area decision errors don’t
count when doing the appointments. There must be a number of
frustrated SG2 referees wondering why the obvious double
standards.

Promotion, retention and demotion is not based on one bad
performance. If your theory is valid, we would have no SG1 to
do PL matches.
Get over it. Errors and bad performance will continue to
happen.

Kitchen with another big appointment. A potential trial PL game
soon if he passes one of the stiffest tests around in the EFL.

From the same officials is unacceptable at this level.

I really do like Kitchen as a referee. Lets a higher degree of
contact which makes for some very watchable games. Remember Hull
v Ipswich in April which was a very big game (7th v 2nd) for a
first year SG2 but he handled it sensationally. Been one of the
most consistent SG2 refs for the last two seasons and counting
and a PL trial game would be well deserved

You're going to have to elaborate, I think.

I think after today’s game Mr Kitchen may be getting a weekend
of holding the boards for someone else. I don’t think I’ve ever
seen a referee let as much go in a derby game. Missed a baker
red in the first 5 minutes, Laurent second yellow in the second
half and I’m as bewildered at anyone as to how he gave a
Blackburn free kick for Flemming being hauled to the ground.
Would have loved an SG1 to stamp their authority on that game,
but I don’t think Mr Kitchen did enough to warrant his
appointment today. Both sets of fans disappointed with how the
game was refereed.

Not seen the game so wont disagree but as previously said
‘letting stuff go’ is his style. Whenever I’ve watched Mr
Kitchen he does let more contact go which admittedly may not be
the best way for a derby game. This game is historically one of
the more fiery derbies so is much more difficult to referee.
I do think that Mr Kitchen did enough to warrant his appointment
though. A very consistent performer at this level for this
season and last.
