Sam Allison - Sheff Wed v Stoke

I should have been at Hillsborough but illness has beaten me.
70 minutes gone, and Allison's performance is up there with one
of the worst I've seen in a while.
Bernard's first yellow could easily fall into the orange
category as he's arguably denied Cannon an obvious goal-scoring
opportunity. The defender was sent off not long after for a poor
challenge.
Early in the second half, Koumas looked to have been fouled in
the box but Allison, who looked to have his back to play,
decides it's a defensive FK. Not sure how he can make a decision
when your movement and positioning means you haven't clearly
seen the incident.
The big controversy has just seen Bannan punch the ball inside
his own area. Clear handball but Allison somehow fails to award
the penalty. If you miss that then, I'm sorry, you've failed to
do your job.

I was there in the North Stand. Fair to say he didn’t have a
great game and infuriated both sets of fans with some baffling
decisions. Cant recall many occasions where both sets of fans
are chanting you don’t know what you’re doing at the same time.
Can’t have any complaints about the two cautions for Bernard,
clumsy defending due to not being able to read the flight of the
ball in the wind.
Would need to see the penalty again, no one sat anywhere near me
had a clue what it had been given for. Stoke also lucky not to
see a red card when the right back went clattering into Beadle
long after he’d picked the ball up, Allison had turned his back
(something a referee at any level shouldn’t do) so I can only
assume AR1 bailed him out. The Stoke 17 should also have been in
trouble, on multiple occasions he threw himself to the ground at
corners holding his face when there was nowhere near him.
Can’t remember the supposed Bannan handball, when was it,
perhaps I’d gone to the toilet?
I’d be worried if I was a Stoke fan. Wednesday were woeful in
the first half yet were allowed to come out with 10 men and win
fairly comfortably. The Stoke fans certainly seemed to be
reacting angrily towards the bench after the second goal went
in.

One of Sam’s issues is to me, he never looks confident when
making decisions. So when he has to make a kmi, he doesn’t look
decisive and I think that invites further issues as players know
that he’s guessing a bit. He’s a great referee and has a great
feel for games, but his style does allow for these sorts of
issues.

Have only seen the "highlights" and very much a tale of 3
penalties.
1st the challenge near the edge of the box which was given as a
defensive FK- to me, attacker got there first, poor challenge by
defender who got hurt, should have been a penalty
2nd the handball - yes we can all see it from high up and behind
the goal - there was no way the referee could have been in a
position to be certain. Not sure what AR view was as there was
no replay from behind them
3rd the penalty given- I understand what he saw, attacker was
impeded by defender, which caused attacker to make contact with
GK. There was (as mentioned above) no deciveness, no clear
explanation, left everyone who couldn't have seen the defenders
tug wondering what had happened
Needs to show more with each decision - not arrogance but
confidence

Mr Allison definitely won’t be posting the highlights onto his
TikTok account 😂
