Re: Six Nations 2025

Provoked, the French player retaliated and through himself at
the Scottish player who was hit in the face. His reaction was
embarrassing, he appeared to exaggerate the injury. It was head
to head, but it was very low down and the force minimal. Foolish
and unacceptable, but I feel YC correct. So, penalty to France
initially, reversed for foul play and YC issued.
I cannot warm to Carley, not a smiler like Pearce who is
arguably too cheerful especially when he's telling you he's
disallowed your try (!), but Carley is very accurate and firm.
Both English men are good imho and Pearce speaks French.

I thought Luke Pearce was superb - mystifies me why he's not
seen as England's No.1

It may be an old comment but just as relevant, if not more so,
as it was when first made. Pearce is a superb ref and has been
treated disgusting by the powers that be for too long now.
Carley and Dickson better than Pearce? - my ar5e!

The provocation came from Ramos pushing white over, who fell
onto the hooker. He in turn dived on s prone player, after the
game had stopped and made contact head on face
Whilst you can argue force was minimal my question was "why is
he doing this?"
It's not a ruck nor a tackle so surely its ALWAYS foul play and
therefore was just a cheap shot
I'm surprised (especially given it was Tempest as FPRO) that it
came back as yellow
If that happens in the Premiership I am sure it would be red
(and quite rightly IMHO)
As said above Carley is not a smiler, does little to work with
players BUT has a very high accuracy level, which means he is
respected if not liked
I thought both he and Luke Pearce performed really well

Well don’t know about you but I feel it’s been one of the most
enjoyable 6 Nations for a few years. Over 800 points scored at
an average of 55 per game must be one of the highest for some
time.
Overall I think World Rugby will be happy with the refereeing.
Yes there were a few issues but most of the refs stepped up to
the plate and did well.
For me the outstanding refs were Nika Amushakeli, Angus Gardner,
Christope Ridley and Luke Pearce but others may feel
differently.

Mauvaka has been cited for his head butt on Ben White. What do I
know about RC thresholds? It will irritate the French after the
Dupont injury against Ireland where no action was taken but WR
may be unhappy with the officials and their failure to upgrade
the YC to red. Ian Tempest was it in the bunker?

It was IT and yes it surprised me it didn't come back at least a
20 min red; to me it was attempted thuggery and should have been
straight red

Upon reflection, although the officials were looking at it as
illegal contact with the head, isn't what happened really a case
of violent conduct similar to throwing a punch to the head. In
the case of the latter, isn't it the case that the 20 minute
rule wouldn't apply? Straight red, France permanently down to
14.
If this were the case, then the result may have been different,
and England could have won the Six Nations. And Gregor Townsenx
would be getting less criticism. Mind you, France are so good
they may well have won with 14.
Edit to reflect subsequent 3 match ban: From Rugbypass.com which
sums it up better than I could. "While 20-minute red cards were
in force over the Six Nations for technical offences, this would
have warranted a permanent red as it would have been deemed a
deliberate and dangerous act of foul play, meaning France would
have been down to 14 players for the majority of the match."
Carley will carry the can for that one I'm afraid.
