The citing Commissioner has ruled that the citings were
unsurportable as the offences didn't meet the red card
threshold. The French will be upset because they have a great
player with a bad injury but that doesn't mean foul play has
occurred. It was an accident. Officials had a very good game.

Never understood why World Rugby appoint officials for final
matchday so far in advance - now means that there's an
Englishman refereeing a match that could have bearings on
whether England win the 6N (long shot but still possible).
It's not the first year it's happened - why not have an
announced pool of officials who can make up the officials for
final matchday (so the SHers can be in Europe) and then decide
on exact appointments once there's a clearer idea of the final
day permutations? Or just give all the final day referee
appointments to SH refs, with NH refs running touch?

Because unlike football conspiracy theorists WR trust their
players and officials; they appoint who they deem best for that
game, knowing with 2 ARs the TMO and being watched by millions
there is very little you can do to Significantly affect a games
outcome.
Should either MC or LP referee in a manner which benefits
England and is contrary to law it would soon be apparent.

[/quote]ya rugby is complete opposite of soccer. For example
Andrew brace is from wales but still referees them and their
clubs and frank Murphy played for Munster and reffed them.think
Karl Dickson is the same but I wouldn’t be as familiar

Your view of rugby fans is obviously very different to mine!
Can't imagine French rugby fans letting it slide if an English
referee's decision let to England winning 6N not France.
I have no doubts about the objectivity of Matt Carley at all,
but think it would be beneficial to have not put him in a
difficult position. There are enough good refs that don't
represent 6N nations (Nika, Gardner, Berry, O'Keeffe) that it's
a situation that could have been avoided.

Yikes, Mike Adamson, who never really convinced me as an
on-field referee having to get bailed out by Nic Berry when he's
TMO. Total U-turn

I too, was watching from behind the sofa!! He should never be
anywhere near an international match
Brousset was very firm with Berry - his hand signals suggesting
that the decision making power was on field
Whilst on - thoroughly enjoyed Luke Pearce's performance and the
immortal line
"Just check it for me, unsightly, just didn't feel right"
Was a deliberately knock on and YC

I thought Luke Pearce was superb - mystifies me why he's not
seen as England's No.1

I don’t know enough about the laws of rugby to know what is and
isn’t a correct decision but there’s a lot of clamour for the
France player to have been sent off for a headbutt. To those who
know the rugby law better, should it have been a red card?
