Gardner has had an excellent 46 minutes but that is a horrible
decision to award that France try.his assistants have been
extremely poor today and they influenced that decision too

Are you referring to the one when O'Mohaney was retreating and
       fell over his own feet?
I agreed with Gardner and thought Ben Kay gave a perfect
       explanation in commentary
Loved it when the crowd booed Gardner as he started his
description and he said something like "hang on, let me
       explain.."
I thought he had an excellent game, perfect choice

illegal clear out. His comms is excellent though.no need for
       commentators atall

That jumping over the tackler might be the worst law in Ruby
Union because the welsh player didn't do anything wrong and he's
penalised for jumping when it wasn't even a jump it was a
       hurdle.

Still cannot jump a tackle. It is clearly expressed in law. It
can be dangerous and so by keeping it simple, it removes
ambiguity. I agree that this wasn't dangerous but the referee
       was correct.
I thought Gardner was very good and his communication skills
       outstanding.

With my usual caveat of not really being knowledgeable enough to
comment on finer points of law enforcement, just from a simple
officiating standpoint I thought Angus Gardner was outstandingly
good. I have always admired his style and for me, today he gave
a masterclass in how to officiate with absolute authority but
without a trace of being overbearing. His inter-reaction with
the players was excellent; he is a referee who clearly enjoys
their respect and his communication skills are top class. I
thought he provided an absolute model of how officiating should
       be done.

On his day I think he is currently #1 in the world. He got the
balance of chat right today (he has, in the past, chatted too
       much)
His decision making is excellent up there with Luke Pearce in
getting most things right on field
Definitely a referee you want doing your games
Pity he cannot do any of the Lions tests

It will be interesting to see how the citing of the 2 Irish
players for the serious injury to Dupont pans out. Gardner
explained his view well and accidental may be one view. However
WR often rejects accidents and argues that they are preventable,
       an example being head contact.
Players going off feet at a ruck is a common sight and often
ignored because the player being cleared out falls away causing
the tackler to fall over which may be what happened here.
However, were arms used? Secondly, it is an offence to target
lower limbs in a clear out. Were the Irish clearing out
illegally? Not sure, but what happened yesterday is repeated in
all games and WR may have to tighten up further on clear outs at
the ruck and players going off their feet.
I can only wish Dupont well. He got himself in a difficult
position jackalling. Should he have had more protection? P.s. I
am often accused of sitting on the fence but I believe the TMO
and referee got it right. An accident with potentially serious
consequences for a great player whose replacement by the way had
       a very good game.
Also another Irish player has been cited by the angry French
team, a head contact leading to a failed HIA. Refereeing at this
       level is a tough gig!

Nash has been cited for not getting low enough in a tackle. He
received a YC and the bunker agreed, no RC as it was deemed
passive. The French view will be different as their player
failed his HIA. They may have a case, ultimately Nash went in
       high.
Porter was the supporting player who pushed Beirne over and onto
Dupont's leg. If he hadn't entered the ruck, Beirne would
probably have stayed on his feet. All ifs.
