Arne Slot's criticism of referees may mean extra focus on the
first Liverpool game although he is banned from the touchline.
Sam Barrott could be under greater scrutiny although I feel he
is up to it. It is all part of the job. I wonder if Slot's
problem is the different way of refereeing in England. More
emphasis on meaningful contact, more generous interpretation of
handball, unwillingness to issue cards, inconsistency etc.

... or maybe A Slot does not like the incorrect application of
Law by experienced, professional match officials, as was the
case in the sending-off of A Robertson on Saturday, a decision
that could have stopped Liverpool from earning 2 more Premier
League points in its quest for the championship.

I disagree. The decision to red card Robertson was clear-cut and
the only issue about it was whether Fulham would score and thus
negate the red card. Once a goal did not result and Harrington
pulled play back, the red card had to follow.

The decision to red card Robertson was not clear cut. Only 1
criteria was met - proximity to goal. The ball moved away from
goal, was not within playing distance and there was a covering
player. Dale Johnson and Dermott Gallagher agreed it was not a
red card so clear cut it was not. I suspect that Liverpool
didn't appeal because Robertson will only miss one game and that
is in the Carabao Cup where he may not have played.

I thought the same - even though an appeal would have seemed
more likely to succeed than not (and certainly couldn't be
classed as frivolous - if that even still exists?) - they maybe
didn't bother because they didn't intend on involving Robertson
tonight.
However, as the Red Card is now registered against Robertson,
doesn't that mean he will be subject to an additional one match
ban should he receive another red card this season?
Apologies, off-topic I know.

Barrott for Spurs v Lpool after last seasons farce ??
Too big for him again imo! Should have been Taylor or Oliver
only or Gillett.
Good spread around, would have been good to of seen Josh Smith
with a run out but nope nothing.
Also has Allison not lived up to the hype ? As Webb has not used
him since September.

Well last time this correspondent asked us to note the fall out
from Sam Barrott's last big match and the fall-out was that he
had a very good game. Let us see what the fall-out is this time.
I hope similar. Whether people like it or not ( and personally I
do ) Sam Barrott is being got ready ( I agree along with John
Brooks ) to be the next international big hitters in the post
Oliver and Taylor era.

Pretty sure he is banned from the touchline tonight and will be
back in the technical area on Sunday.

Generally a good set of well thought out appointments imo,
Taylor and Oliver cemented as numero 1 and 2 but good support
from Jones,Brooke’s,Madley,Kavanagh and the very impressive
Barrett. Lewis-Smith emerging as a real talent at a good time
with Pawson and Tierney well passed their sell-by date along
with Scott! Great to see Bankes, Gillett and Bramhall back in
action and although Robinson yet to prove himself I am sure he
will also come through just like Bond and Harrington who are
benefitting from a consistent run of appointments (notably since
the departure of Mr Moss!)…England still effected by Vargate and
needs a confidence boost but by and large the group looks to be
doing very well. It does however go to show that last season’s
appointments given to Walsh,Allison and Gill were what many felt
at the time just a cheap publicity stunt.I wish all officials
well at a very busy period for them.

Can Barrott wear his FIFA badge now? Sure evidence of his
progression and deserved imho.
