After watching that poor game I have totally given up on trying
to understand The Laws of the Game and their interpretation.
The first penalty/outside the box incident should have been a
free kick at least and a second caution for Emerson --is that
       why it was not given?
Lewis received a second caution on Saturday when the defender
actually stood on his foot, however, tonight a Wolves player had
his foot stood on and nothing was given, should have been a
       penalty.
Apart from the foul on the Hammers winning goal, when the first
ball was launched into the box the Wolves player only went for
the ball because two Hammers were goal side of him. He was notto
know whether or not they were offside so he had to play the
ball. They scored from the resulting follow up play --not to
       mention the foul.
Rodriguez was then cautioned in added time when the Wolves
player was very close to going over the ball ---the referee was
stood right on top of that incident, however..............
PLease can someone explain just what is happening to the once
beautiful game I loved. I am at a total loss ---and tchnology
has not helped at all apart from goal line incidents.

Haven’t seen this yet, but don’t think things are currently
helped by the latest word salad and management speak used to
justify decisions - ‘impactful’ fouls and ‘sustained’ holding
are bound to lead to inconsistency. Most fouls are accidental,
and it’s always been simple - one player gets there first and
the other catches the player, it’s a foul. Most top level
players make a meal of every foul. Along with the mess of the
handball laws and ‘high bars’, it’s no wonder refs are getting
it wrong. VAR is a mess and again should be simpler - with the
benefit of a replay, do you (as another top referee) think the
       onfield ref made a mistake?

Totally agree about the word salad / management speak. Howard
Webb and others are talking in riddles to justify what has
happened and making it more complex and opaque. Its a simple
game and needs no more complications, preferably less.

@ Ashington46, i agree this once game i loved is dying !! The
laws of the game have been messed with so much, and all this
rubbish around expectations / and player management has gone
crazy. Refs look so weak and out their dept in 2024, it’s
       laughable to be honest.
I love brooks, but brooks was so poor, numerous yellows missed,
potential red + pens missed ! How has he gone from being #1 PL
Ref Elect to lokking bang average ?? So poor John Brooks ! Andy
       Madley shouldnt work
       On VAR again !
