Crystal Palace v Manchester City - Robert Jones

Controversial ending to this match and Manchester City unhappy.
Rico Lewis was sent off for a second yellow card after receiving
a needless booking for dissent. He then tries to win the ball
back in the Palace penalty area, and to me, I think he was
unlucky. There seemed to be a simultaneous collision between
Lewis and the Palace player and Lewis seemed to be sinned
against rather than the sinner.
VAR cannot overrule on second yellow cards so Rico Lewis had to
walk. However Pep Guardiola’s attitude after the final whistle
and in the BBC post match interview smacked of a holier than
thou air. Pretending he didn’t understand the interviewer’s
question indicates a complete lack of respect, and with City
winning one of their last nine matches, maybe he’s feeling the
heat.
There was another Newcastle v Liverpool type situation where
City had the ball just outside their own penalty area and Robert
Jones blew for full time. Like the other day, if time is up,
it’s up. Tough luck. Like with all things on the football pitch,
the referee is the final arbiter. Until independent timekeepers
come in, people will try and jump on the back of a complete non
story.
Good to know that old habits die hard, namely managers under
pressure resort to the age old blame game of the referee. It’s
tiresome and a blight on the game.

The second yellow was a bit harsh but you also cannot go in
making that tackle while on a yellow.was reckless.jones good
overall

Initial reaction when watching the highlights was a second
yellow, can’t really lunge in like that when on a booking

Ref Watch agreed that the second yellow was wrong but everyone
understand why Jones gave it. Then a discussion regarding
reviewing second yellows!
