Think he’ll be up for Fifa, as he’s regularly being used as 4th
on Uefa games, presumably to give experience. Not sure who’s due
to make way though, as there’s currently the full 10 - maybe
Pawson after moving down a category?

Either Pawson or Atwell stepping down as on field official

Attwell seems to be most employed as a VAR in international
matches so it would make perfect sense for him to relinquish his
on-field FIFA badge. He has never really established himself as
an international referee of renown. In my book, he's a fair to
middling SG1 performer. Ludicrous expectations seemed to be
place upon him in his first incarnation into the top flight and
he had to drop down and learn his craft properly before
establishing a place on SG1. Whether or not he would have made
'star quality' had his progression been more managed I could not
say but I doubt it. I don't think he has greatness about his
officiating; just fairly good refereeing.

And I respect Atwell for returning stronger and becoming a solid
performer.

Indeed, his perseverance and tenacity certainly merits respect.

I think it’s well understood that Lord Elleray took Attwell
under his tutelage….. I really never rated Elleray as an
official anyway.

Oh no disagree Elleray was a pure class of a referee, never ever
lost control of a game, had a natural authority about him, and
his decision making was outstanding !!
