Stuart Atwell doing well so far in the game. Gave a back pass as
well, thought that was correct, don’t see much of them given

Good intervention by Hatzidakis for simulation by a Chelsea
player as well.

Seeing one act of simulation being punished is rare. Two being
punished, I don’t think I’ve seen in a match before. Well done
to Attwell for spotting both. Hopefully, more of this is
sanctioned

Only saw highlights. Good alertness to spot the back pass and
good advantage for the goal. Only gripe would be the IFK for the
back pass which didn’t look good, where he restarted with a
number of players well short of the distance - although always
hard to manage, as it was less than 10 yards out, it’s easier,
as should all have been on the line; including the GK who he
seemed to forget about and let stand 3/4 yards out before he
blew the whistle! A PL ref should be stronger and ensure they at
least start in the right place!

One of the best performances I have seen. In control pretty much
throughout, let contact go consistently and the only issue was
the rare one - as previously observed - where the indirect free
kick saw the defending players significantly less than 10 yards
away. They all should have been on the goalline.
It was clear encroachment so should have been a retake.

I have never seen such a free kick taken without encroachment.
Players could be 10 yards either side or behind the kicker so
all dont need to be on the goal line between the posts.

They have to be 10 yards away. The ball was about 8/9 yards away
from the goal. So they had to be on the line (which they
weren't).

I think Claretman's point is that there is nothing in the Laws
to say they have to be between the ball and the goal line.
Obviously, they are going to be (making your point also
correct), but what he said was technically right.
