Could have booked a few but decided to manage. Players respected

Definitely agree with you there. Two teams that wanted to play a
good game of football and Taylor didn’t interfere with that.
Being a Town fan myself he could have easily booked a few of our
players for some late challenges but kept his cards in his
pocket and was consistent with that. Top performance for me

I thought Anthony Taylor had an excellent match. He could have
found some cautions had he been looking for them ( and I'm sure
lesser experienced referees would have done so to keep a tight
grip on the game ) but he clearly had the respect of the players
and thus he was allowed to officiate in an efficient but relaxed
way.

Brooks was very strong by cautioning early on in his game and
doing this usually calms things down a little.

How strange to "really hate" a thoroughly accomplished
refereeing performance that was achieved without resorting to
frantic card waving at every opportunity.
To stay in the background and not, for once, making a game all
about him. Hardly hateful. Anyone who would prefer to see a
plethora of cards really can't be that keen on football.
Regarding "the teams due to play next against a player who
should have been cautioned may have to play against said player
who should be suspended". Clubs who benefit from playing a match
against a team with a key player suspended are simply fortunate
with the way the fixtures pan out. They are probably not one of
the teams who had been subjected to the player's indiscretions
and deserve no sympathy in this respect.

I can think of plenty who could have made it so !

Absolutely… perhaps some of the officials around the circuit who
resort to the cards so brazenly could do with watching the
performance of Taylor. A masterclass in how to deal with the
players appropriately and they responded in kind.
Taylor certainly isn’t shy to flash the cards as we saw at
Bournemouth a while back, but you can’t argue that he does get
the balance right most of the time.
