Tierney (and Madley) have completely forgotten about the DOGSO
element, haven't they? Not a challenge for the ball so a red
card should have been issued. I wonder if Leicester (and other
non-refereeing people) will pick up on how blatant a mistake
this is!

I did think about that when watching it first time. It’s
difficult to tell because it’s certainly not a challenge for the
ball but I don’t think a foul was a ‘deliberate action’ by
Lavia. Of course he clips his foot and is definitely a penalty
but I’m not sure whether it was a red card. Maybe someone else
can help with that?

APOLOGIES. Lavia was cautioned, unreported by BT Sport (at least
if it was, I missed it).
So my main point 'the officials forgot about sanctioning Lavia
due to the more complex nature of the situation' is incorrect.
A liberal interpretation of Law12 makes the caution itself
supportable:
Where a player commits an offence against an opponent within
their own penalty area which denies an opponent an obvious
goal-scoring opportunity and the referee awards a penalty kick,
the offender is cautioned if the offence was an attempt to play
the ball or a challenge for the ball; in all other circumstances
(e.g. holding, pulling, pushing, no possibility to play the ball
etc.), the offending player must be sent off.

Astonishing that Ndidi escaped a red card for a horrific and
deliberate foul on Palmer’s achilles in the first half. As the
pundits said at half time he “did” Palmer.
I thought it was a penalty for Leicester when Fofana blocked off
Mavididi.
On the given penalty I didn’t see any contact between the
defender and the attacker but given the lack of protests I
assume there was.

As a Leicester fan, he’s a complete embarrassment and most of
his rants are cover for his managerial shortcomings. You’d think
somebody whose dad was a top flight referee would have more
respect.

He is quoted as saying that the referee "maybe lost a little
concentration". Perhaps he should focus on his defenders who
seemed to make a habit of losing concentration which is where
both goals came from. If Leicester had been down to ten in the
first half they could have had absolutely no complaints
(although that would - no doubt - not have stopped Cooper from
doing exactly that). There is an argument that they could have
been down to nine, but was the degree of force and lack of
control in both challenges.
Whilst being the son of a former Premier League referee does not
hold Cooper to any higher standard than his 19 colleagues, you
would think he would have more empathy for the referee. But
then if the media allow him to moan about the match officials
then he does not have to ask the awkward questions when his team
are not successful.

Perhaps had he said
"We accept our player should have been sent off, which
highlights the fact the referee wasn't quite at the races,
coupled with our Inability to defend. This contributed most to
our defeat. However,given those circumstances it is
disappointing Mr Madley did not award us a penalty when we felt
we should have had one"
Not that I agree with it being a penalty but as a referee and an
organisation you are more likely to look at situations if the
individual involved has a balanced view.
Where the foul is a trip I believe FIFA is looking for YC only
on DOGSO even if you could argue no attempt to play the ball
