It's not unknown for referees to be promoted back to the EFL,
presumably on merit, and Pratt and Horwood come to mind,
although neither achieved any great success back on the League
list.

I don't remember Pratt. Brian Coddington was another returning
to the sunlit uplands without a huge degree of distinction on
either visit. Paul Taylor also returned but with a little more
success.

Was it Bratt, with perhaps a Freudian slip ?

Paul Marsden was 4O in the NL Play-off final when TRFC got
promoted, so he must have been doing something right that
season? Saw him in action a couple of times, fell into the
unconvincing category, but don’t recall any major mistakes.
Gary Sutton was another who got demoted then promoted back.
While can’t recall seeing much of him in action before the
demotion, don’t recall reading much negative about him at that
period. Saw Mr Sutton in action a few times after his return to
the FL and he always seemed a safe pair of hands.

Wasn’t Drysdale given the boot and then promoted some time
later?

Think Drysdale received an overseas appointment with work? As
fair as I remember never "relegated"

Hartlepool United FC (First Team) v AFC Fylde (First Team)
National League - Premier
Referee: Bancroft, James
Assistant Referee: Cavanagh, William
Assistant Referee: Mulraine, Kevin
Fourth Official: Lawson, Steven
No issues with the man in the middle from our game last night. I
think he got every major decision correct that were his. I think
the AR2 on the side I was on made some poor decisions if I’m
honest (balls being in/ out got cocked up a few times and gave
some soft fouls with the flag)

Whoops, another senior moment. I saw Steve Bratt at Gresty Road
in his first incarnation on the EFL list, a local derby v
Macclesfield in L2, and after a good first 20 minutes, he rather
lost the plot, and ended up running hither and thither trying to
keep order. Not greatly impressed tbh.

My only view of Steve Bratt was in one of the worst games I ever
saw. A 0-0 between Wycombe and Accrington that felt like it must
have neared the record for throw ins. My memory is that there
wasxn't much he could have done to make it better or worse apart
from adding less time on.
