Firstly I agree that Tom Kirk has received another excellent
appointment. Hopefully this is another step on his progression
to promotion
Secondly, Hopefully without hexing him, I would have no worries
about Mr Copeland at Crewe.
An excellent, experienced official who seems to have had a
career as a safe pair of hands over the years.
He must be very capable having survived me on his line - TWICE.
Good Luck to them both

Looks like Alan Young is back on the scene for the first time in
ages.
Good to see Hussin back as well.

Perhaps Crewe have indicated (on the quiet) that they are happy
for "newbies" to be appointed to their games? I am not sure why
they would do that, perhaps building up Brownie points for the
future??

Alan Young was at Gillingham on Saturday and also had some games
in September - one was Newport v Crewe

Imagine that! So far this season, we’ve had James Durkin, John
Mulligan, Stephen Parkinson and Steven Copeland. All these
between 26th October and 16th November. Technically James Oldham
if you count him? He was for the EFL trophy though.
Last season we had Richie Watkins, Stephen Parkinson, Andrew
Humpries and Farai Hallam.

Can’t believe it took until November for Carl Brook to get his
first trip to Essex! A regular at the Community Stadium and
nearly always come away satisfied, so let’s hope that’s another
one of those days.
That is a tasty matchup at Gresty Road for Steven Copeland.
James Durkin and Ollie Yates with fairly important games at the
bottom as well.

He officiated the same game 2 seasons ago. Are you a Col U
supporter? He came across very one sided that day, hopefully
different this weekend. We’ve actually not had him in a league
game since which says a lot!

I am! Was that the late 1-0? I wasn’t there that night
(typically!)
My impression is that there’s more “Northern” based referees
than Southern referees, so we see the same names more than most
clubs. Carl Brook and Sam Purkiss especially are usually good
for at least 2 U’s games a season. Carl is usually one of the
safest pair of hands around in my experience.
