Thoughts are with David Coote, his family and friends at this
       very difficult time.
Hope he is getting all the right support that he needs.
I agree with TTFL about speculating with an appeal a possible
avenue for him in the future.

The circumstantial evidence, and I stress it is only that, is
that David Coote is a somewhat conflicted person. It's bad
enough losing your job and current livelihood but to happen in
the full glare of publicity must be particularly unfortunate. I
know some in the PGMOL world have been incredibly surprised
because David Coote was perceived as being a rather steady
individual. We await to see if he takes up his right to appeal
and if so, what that brings forth.
Some time ago I was given the wise counsel of never commit to
writing or film anything you would not be comfortable with your
employer, parish priest or maiden aunt seeing.

PGMOL have acted quickly but there are a few questions
unanswered. The statement lacks detail in that it doesn't
explain all that Coote did that led to his dismissal, although
       we can imagine.
       > The decision can be appealed and rightly so. Sad.

There's not really anything they can say about it. Partly
because of his right to appeal, but also because he is an
employee of a limited company, they can't go publishing details
of disciplinary hearings that result in dismissals. The only
thing that could be published would be the outcome of an FA
disciplinary hearing, that is different to an employment
       hearing.

Regrettably, there was only going to be one outcome of this very
sad business; namely David Coote will lose his job.
Being a cricket umpire of some 37 years standing, I offer these
       thoughts……
Being a sports official means that you have to have the utmost
integrity. That official works hard to get to a certain level,
works hard to maintain that level and has to uphold that
integrity right the way through his/her career.
A good reputation can be built up over so much time and then
undone by one foolish action. That is what David Coote did. He
was foolish in the extreme, and allowed his reputation to be
scattered to the four winds. The office of an official is to be
seen to be fair, without fear or favour. Mistakes happen of
course on the field of play, but you have to work hard to be
       perceived in the right way.
What we have seen recently from some of the officials of the
highest levels is some really excellent performances, namely of
quality and integrity, getting the decisions right and leaving
everyone after the game NOT talking about them but about the
football played. That has repaired and enhanced the reputation
which has been put under severe strain recently.
I hope in this post that my cogent thoughts have come through
without being sensationalistic and wishing to denigrate Mr.
Coote any further. A line has been drawn and hopefully now, we
can return to talking about quality football and of course
       quality refereeing performances.

I am a mere supporter who just loves football from all
perspectives but I must say that whilst David Coote has been a
very silly boy indeed my thoughts turn to forgiveness and
hopefully there is a way to repatriation.
He is too good a referee to be totally lost to the game.
Obviously there are many members on this forum who know the
referee industry far better than I will ever do but my thoughts
go back to when Bobby Madley was dismissed from the Select Group
One for circumstances that were not football related. He has been
able to rebuild his career over a period of time working up from
the National List up to SG2 and in my humble opinion is always a
safe and steady pair of hands.
Going further back I remember Mike Dean serving a fairly long
period of suspension for some reason but came back stronger.
I really do hope Mr Coote can rebuild a career in some form
       either here or abroad.
It really, really is a sad day for the game.

I think it naive if people think referees don't have views about
a particular club, players anf officials. They are human and I
bet they talk to others about how they have been treated. The
ill advised, poorly expressed rant by Coote may indeed represent
his view of Liverpool. Do other referees feel uncomfortable
refereeing other clubs? Probably, but they rise above it.
I know of a referee who disliked a few clubs yet always refereed
them fairly and without any sign of bias. They are watched,
assessed and given feedback. There is no hiding place.

Look, I’m in full agreement with other posters that no more on
his future should be speculated. My full respect goes to the
PGMOL with them saying that Mr Coote’s welfare is of their
utmost importance which it should. I do also have some empathy
with Mr Coote as his career has seemingly been snatched away
from him through one individual throwing him under the bus.
(Obviously many other videos have surfaced on social media but I
will choose not to talk about those)
I have only become a referee myself in February this year
(started my course a year ago) and I have learned how to see the
game from a different perspective and it’s no easy job. I
referee grassroots football only (at U16 and under) and kids see
me at school every day and they notice me in the hallway often
saying some unkind remarks. It does make you think ‘why am I
doing this?’ at times. I can only hope that any of Mr Coote’s
actions haven’t been influenced by this as I’m sure he is a
strong referee and a genuinely nice person. I hope he gets all
the help he needs from the PGMOL and other people to help him
recover from this massive setback for him.
Obviously, the PGMOL’s actions are more than justified with the
evidence given and they had to dismiss him as of today but it
also has to be considered that this is a man who’s career has
now gone for the time being. I hope he can recover and stay
       within the footballing world
All the best to Mr Coote in the future 👍

In my experience referees don't dislike clubs but certain
individuals within clubs be they owners, directors, managers or
players and this is usually because they have displayed
egregious behaviour towards match officials. However,
individuals move on and with their going the dislike is often
       removed as well.

He was never going to keep his job, he has been recorded
slagging off a manager calling him a German see you next Tuesday
whilst quite possibly under the influence of something and also
been recorded allegedly taking drugs whilst away with UEFA.
Employment law is balance of probabilities rather than beyond
reasonable doubt so unfortunately for Mr Coote it was only going
one way, i think once the investigation was concluded and if he
has been found guilty of gross minconduct his job was untenable.
Very unusual circumstance as everyone who was in PGMOL who has
been interviewed (Dean, Halsey etc) have said he is a very quiet
reserved person, i wonder if he has been stitched up by a friend
or ex partner who has stuck the knife in or something.
Hopefully he can rebuild his reputation abroad ala Bobby Madley.
