A significant percentage of decisions in football are 50:50, if
a referee went over to check any time such a decision had to be
made games would never end. If it is 50:50 VAR shouldn't be
going anywhere near it in any case, they should only be getting
involved where almost everyone looking at it realises the
referee has dropped a complete clanger (unless factual like
offside).

[/quote]I should have phrased it better.what I meant was if the
var isn’t able to say check complete within let’s say 20secs
it’s obviously not clear and the ref should ah e the final
say.it won’t add that much time if the ref comes to the monitor
after 20secs(for example)

Time taken will also depend in part on the camera angles
available. We've all seen incidents where it looks stonewalled
from one angle and absolutely nothing from another. I think
putting a time limit on things will only add to things being
missed as they rush to get it done quickly.
